The Black Jacobin is a striking black and white endemic of woodland habitats from eastern Brazil south to northeast Argentina in a fairly narrow band along the coast. It feeds on the nectar of various native and introduced shrubs and trees and will occasionally occur in congregations of 50 or more individuals around particularly rich nectar resources and when it happens they become very aggressive in the dispute for nectar. Picture taken at Sítio Macuquinho, São Paulo.

Wishing everyone a peaceful bokeh Wednesday!

Recently I've been spending time photographing this summer visitor. I've been trying to get inflight shots of them skimming for fish. So far I have not been able to get any images the make the grade. They are fast and maneuverable fliers!

For now, here's a portrait shot.

I'll keep working on the action images!

Is the anticipation ON? While we are all waiting for the fall color to drop, I'm enjoying myself editing some landscape photos from one of the Montenegro’s natural wonders called the Black Lake. This place is so beautiful that I'm not sure how to put that in to words so I hope that this photo will do the justice to this natural gem. In Serbian history it has a mythical place and the stories were told about it for the centuries back. The legend says that after one of the Serbian most celebrated saints was wrongfully accused of stealing, he than unleashed the fury of the mountain water to punish the locals and flood them. The Black Lake lies at the foot of Međed Peak at the 1416m (1364ft) above the sea level and it is surrounded with the thick layers of the black pine. The woods cast the dark black shadow that make the lake color turn almost black. What do you think?

It was already after sunset and getting dark when we left the Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve, but I just had to somehow get a shot of these swans. So much to see, too little time.

I like the reddish colour of the water in this shot, caused by a group of red leaved trees in the background, lining the waters edge, reflecting off the water.

Taken at Barton Marina, Staffordshire.

Thank you to everyone who views, faves or comments on my photos, it is always appreciated.

We saw lots of different kinds of toucans in Costa Rica but they were all very high in the forest canopy and impossible to photograph. This was the best I could do but it was cool to see them. Hard to see here but he has blue feet!
