The Black Drongo (Dicrurus macrocercus), also known as the King Crow, is a small Asian passerine bird of the drongo family Dicruridae. Previously considered a subspecies (Dicrurus adsimilis macrocercus) of the African Fork-tailed Drongo (Dicrurus adsimilis), it is now recognized as a full species. It is a common resident breeder in much of tropical southern Asia from southwest Iran through India and Sri Lanka east to southern China and Indonesia. It is a wholly black bird with a distinctive forked tail and measures 28 cm (11 in) in length. Feeding on insects, it is common in open agricultural areas and light forest throughout its range, perching conspicuously on a bare perch or along power or telephone lines. The species is famous for its aggressive behaviour towards much larger birds, such as crows, never hesitating to dive-bomb any birds of prey that invades its territory. Smaller birds often nest in the well guarded vicinity of a nesting Black Drongo.
The Black Drongo has been introduced to some Pacific islands, where it has thrived and become abundant to the point of threatening and causing the extinction of native and endemic bird species there.
I waited and waited for him/her to have her head come into some light but alas she just would not cooperate!
At Kabini - this is one of the rarest cats - perhaps the only full black panther in India. He came out for a drink - and we were able to sight him for 9 minutes!
Never seen one of these before, it was with two other white swans. Quite impressive I think, looks far less menacing than the white variety.

When you're talkin' to yourself
And nobody's home
You can fool yourself
You came in this world alone
(Alone)
So nobody ever told you baby
How it was gonna be
So what'll happen to you baby
Guess we'll have to wait and see
One, two
Old at heart but I'm only twenty eight
And I'm much too young
To let love break my heart
Young at heart but it's getting much too late
To find ourselves so far apart
I don't know how you're s'posed to find me lately
An what more could you ask from me
How could you say that I never needed you
When you took everything
Said you took everything from me
Young at heart an it gets so hard to wait
When no one I know can seem to help me now
Old at heart but I musn't hesitate
If I'm to find my own way out
Still talkin' to myself
And nobody's home
(Alone)
So nobody ever told us baby
How it was gonna be
So what'll happen to us baby
Guess we'll have to wait and see
When I find out all the reasons
Maybe I'll find another way
Find another day
With all the changing seasons of my life
Maybe I'll get it right next time
An now that you've been broken down
Got your head out of the clouds
You're back down on the ground
And you don't talk so loud
An you don't walk so proud
Any more, and what for
Well I jumped into the river
Too many times to make it home
I'm out here on my own, an drifting all alone
If it doesn't show give it time
To read between the lines
'Cause I see the storm getting closer
And the waves they get so high
Seems everything we've ever known's here
Why must it drift away and die
I'll never find anyone to replace you
Guess I'll have to make it through, this time - oh this time
Without you
I knew the storm was getting closer
And all my friends said I was high
But everything we've ever known's here
I never wanted it to die
I seem to have posted loads of landscapes recently but not much else - so time to redress the balance! Taken recently at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales
In this image you can see that this black bee killer actually has a bee as its prey. I am pretty sure of the ID but not 100%.
En esta imagen, se puede ver que esta mosca caza abejas, de verdad, tiene una abeja como presa. Estoy bastante seguro de la identificación pero no en el 100%.

Stilts are one of my favourite birds - photogenic and full of character!
Nancy's black petunias are gorgeous, but very hard for me to capture. It's going to be my challenge this summer to go back until I get some good shots. The main upload has a topaz filter added at a lowered opacity to enhance the detail. Below are 2 more shots of one that has more yellow stripes in the center.
OhioFoothills--don't forget to check the discussions regarding June outings. The first one will be this Saturday, 11th, at Deer Creek State Park (weather permitting).
