It's been a long time since I've had the opportunity to film these beauties.

These guys are sadly far from being the cleverest of birds.

It was lovely to get a rare night out in my old haunt. I really enjoyed distant views of barn and long eared owls, sadly on this occasion no pics.

The curlew is a bird which is highly skilled in avoiding yours truly.

So it was a nice surprise to get a very close encounter.

Numbers of this stunning bird are sadly on the decline, so it was nice to see them doing well locally.

Not every ones cup of tea here in the UK but is the one wild mammal that children can get to see regularly. Less arboreal than then the Red Squirrel as the grey tends to feed extensively on the ground. Its not their fault that there over here in the UK that one lie's with the worlds most destructive and most dangerous animal on the planet called the human.

Taken today at Steart Marshes in Somerset, UK. :)

Whilst exciting to see, this bird very soon flooded the internet beyond even biblical proportions. Such was the deluge of photos even Noah couldn't cope.

With this in mind I didn't post too many pics at the time. So with the excitement fully quelled here's another one from the archives.

I managed to get a nice clean shot of this young kingfisher would made several dives before coming out the water with a fish. This was one of his unsuccessful attempts. Again I had lovely golden morning light for this effort.

It was lovely to run into this beauty on one of our favourite walks.

The mid Autumn light was fabulous adding a lovely glow to the pic.
