A recent visit to Beacon Hill Park in Victoria B.C. rewarded us with a bonus...lots of baby ducks have filled the park. These little siblings were snuggled together on the grass by the ponds edge. They didn't even object to me creeping up to take a few pictures.
SOME PEOPLE IRRITATE ME! A lady calls me one day... i missed her call so called her back later... she said she HAD an owl but someone else had already came and got it... so I just said okay.. still thinking how weird it was b/c I am the only rehabber in this area.. anyway... my phone has caller ID. so.. 4 days later someone calls.. saying her name is something different (but same phone number)and saying how she JUST NOW found a baby owl in her garage! We go get the baby and one look as you can see in the picture.. IS NOT GOOD! poor thing was cold as ice.... she said," We have been feeding him and hes eating good." I told her he was ice cold and explained to her how you CANNOT FEED A COLD ANIMAL!
Had she turned him over on day one he would have been fine! She knew she did something wrong. I brought him home and put him in the tub w/ heat but it was too late.. I never did get to see his pretty eyes.

The little kiddo is my nephew - brother of Aroob, the little star in my photos. They are boy and girl of my biggest brother Osamah - he's almost five months old now, and in this photo I think he was almost four months - too lazy to calculate :P -
I hope I'll be uploading some photos this summer, I'll be checking old photos first though :P

Baby Sand Lizard
Lovely to see another generation of these rare little lizards, I've seen a few baby ones over my travels......and as young ones should do....off at the slightest movement. But with the late heatwave we've been having this little one didn't want to give up it's sun spot.
As you can see it's already lost the tip of it's tail.....so somewhere something got the tail end of it :-)
Sorry.......I'm a master at lame jokes.
It's sun spot may have been a little out in the open but it had the added bonus of being an open air drive through for ants........so it had on tap take-away without having to move.
People ask me how I see them.......but I don't do anything special!
Luck plays a part......I've seen way more scurrying away than I've ever captured :-)
But one thing I will say........nearly all the lizard shots I've posted I've never had stepped to step away from the heathland or coastal paths to see them. Like rabbits many do seem to like the edges to paths for sunning and feeding.
Only minutes before a horse rider had rode past me.....so this one was lucky it wasn't on the path.
