My word is 'breathe' for Me Again Monday.

It's a word I am hearing and thinking of a lot lately. In prenatal yoga we are learning to breathe through those tough poses with the motivation of birthing our babies to keep us going...when I feel stressed or hormonal I remind myself to take pause and breathe . And of course when one is by the sea....*inhales* you breathe in that wonderful air and then sleep better for it.

Today being Labour day here in the states we had lunch with friends and then in the afternoon went to 'Gray Whale Cove beach' in Pacifica. There was a lot of moving fog around today...yesterday was sunny so probably hot in the valley so it's expected...but not cold and this beach even had a few nudie men behind a rock down the far end of the beach. Robin and I had gone there first , turned the corner by the rocks and went 'uh erm oh look a seagull ' as there was a ''full moon' surprise on all fours O_O

Happy Me Again Monday everyone!

O is for Ocean // Slow {down and breathe } for ODC ^_^

I muri fatti con perizia

lasciano parlare le cose

danno loro parole intere

e chiara e bella voce

che sa raccontare gli interni sensi

e gli angelici splendori

E così una pietra o una foglia

hanno molti modi per dire

ciò che torna tra le fessure

di un tempo mai trascorso

Ma una nascita è

dove la meraviglia

raggiunge tra le stelle

l'unico amore a lei concesso

lucida favilla

dell'amica notte.

E se il sogno

compare al sonno che pur tarda a venire

il desiderio d'amore raggiunge

il mio sguardo

come fiore giallo nato

dove è più bruna e calda

la sabbia del lago...

RD28025vs. Fawley Railway Museum, set up by the late Sir William McAlpine bt. at Fawley near Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire.

Although a private museum which is not open to the general public, they do have open days which can be visited by groups by prior arrangement and I was lucky enough to be with a group that visited on Sunday, 28th July, 2024.

Unfortunately, their resident 0-6-0 saddle tank was away at the menders, so ex B.R. 03 Class 0-6-0 diesel mechanical was doing the honours on the railway which includes a 1 in 13 gradient – the steepest in the country, or so I’ve been told.

This was unexpected!

43007 passes Westhouses with a northbound Inter City Cross Country service, diverted from Derby via Toton and the Erewash Valley due to a problem on the Ambergate line.

It is passing the former Tibshelf sidings, with the rusty remaining single line that was last used by trains from Silverhill colliery, which closed October 1992.

43007 had recently been transferred from B.R. Inter City Great Western to Cross Country at this time, and became one of the celebrity powers cars towards the end of Cross Country HST's and was painted in B.R. Inter City 125 yellow & blue.

It worked the farewell rail tour to Swanage (along with 43008) in September 2023.

It was exported to Mexico in February 2024.

Scrapyard memories The scrapyard at Snailwell processed rolling stock that was contaminated with blue asbestos insulation. Mayer-Newman was one of only a handful of contractors licensed to process former B.R. vehicles containing this material. - the units that were contaminated with asbestos would be passed through the on-site firing tunnel (incinerator) before the charred remains were cut-up for scrap.

This was my only visit to Mayer-Newman's scrapyard

A portrait study of work-worn ex-BR Class 03 03180 - the last operational Class 03 shunter at the scrapyard. Although with faded paintwork and stuck at the end of the line, the loco was still in operation as the scrapyard shunter at Snailwell.

Loco history D2180 was built at Swindon Works entering traffic in January 1962 allocated to Hither Green MPD. It was built for light duties where a larger locomotive was not required or was not allowed. These duties tended to be associated with shunting at locomotive and carriage depots, docks and as station pilots. It spent the first half of it career on the Southern Region transferring to Feltham in December 1962 and Bournemouth in September 1964 for shunting at the EMU depot or Poole Harbour. It was renumbered as 03180 sometime in 1974, and then in September 1975 it transferred to Colchester. It was transferred to Norwich in November 1982 from where it was withdrawn in March 1984. Following withdrawal it was sold to Mayer Newman, Snailwell, a scrap metal processor who at the time was processing redundant coaching stock, DMU’s and EMU’s. This site at one time operated three ex BR class 03s and eventually 03180 became a source of spares and lost its engine. The engineless hulk was eventually sold to the South Yorkshire Railway and subsequently moved to the Battlefield Line in 2001.

On my first B&R chase in October I passed through Manchester in order to stay ahead of the train. This time I took a minute to explore downtown and found this angle that was properly lit and looked good, and one that would allow me to hide the trailing leaser. I had plenty of time as they're down to ten from Rutland all the way to here. With a great sucker hole coming in to assist, it all worked out great.
