Iconic American auto parts and service center was sold today (10/26/2015) to the Japanese tire company Bridgestone for $835 million and who knows how this 1921 established Philadelphia based company will end up, more than likely stores across the country will close and jobs will be lost as Bridgestone is really only interested in the service and tire end of the company - so we'll see this might be Manny, Moe & Jack's last ride

During the Great Floods of 1993, rail traffic west of Chicago was in complete disarray. As the flood waters made their way south down the Mississippi River plain, routes would flood as others to the north reopened. That's the case here--Norforlk Southern's ex-Wabash routes beyond Decatur, IL were underwater as the old Soo Line between Chicago and Kansas City reopened so the NS was running their hot autoparts trains over the former Milwaukee Road. Here is the #145 ducking under the Illinois Central at Genoa, IL with GP38AC #2827 leading GP50s 7022 and 7078 on only 14 cars for the Ford plant in Kansas City.
After a rough night on the Springfield-Hannibal District, empty autoparts train 120 finally makes it into Springfield running on short time. I believe this crew died on their hours of service on the mainline west of Mosser.

Did you know that the Advance Discount name comes from a chain they acquired in 2001, Discount Auto Parts? I'm not sure if every "Advance Discount" is a former Discount, though.
The C&NW 1310 and 1309 work the boxcar yard on the west side of the GM assembly plant at Janesville, WI from July of 1983. Back in 1980-81 this same pair of MP15s were the ones based in my hometown of Belvidere, IL to work the Chrysler plant. They were sent up here to do the same chores--sorting hi-cube boxcars loaded with autoparts.
Parlant de cimetière, voici une première de quelques photos faites chez « Pieces d’Auto Colmor » à St-Amable. Un endroit vraiment impressionnant. D’ailleurs, en déambulant à travers les carcasses de ces jadis fiers destriers mécaniques, j’en suis venu à penser qu’il y avait dû y avoir plusieurs de ces voitures largement accidentées contenant un ou des cadavres!
Speaking cemetery, here is the first of few photos made at "Colmor Auto Parts" in St-Amable. A truly impressive place. Moreover, I came to think that the carcasses of these once proud steeds has to contain one or corpses in the pass!
