CSX train R376 was headed east on the Philadelphia Subdivision behind a pair of SD50s in 1994.
In the years since, the state of Maryland built an overpass for Riverside Drive right through this scene, CSX removed the classic B&O signals, autopart traffic is practically non-existent and the SD50 fleet is long retired.

NS roadrailer, 255, sprints along the Springfield-Hannibal district. Just a couple of days left before roadrailers go into the history books. C40-9W 9936 does the honors passing a large sweeping curve in the rural countryside.

What you have been told is a lie. CP was still pursuing NS all this time, and they succeeded in their merger attempt. Here's one of Calgary Southern's autoparts trains bound for Kansas City.
In all seriousness, a coincidental leader takes charge of 145 as it overtakes an empty ballast train at Hazel Dell.
One more of Jose, because what is better than a upside down teenager in front of a line of car doors?

Drifting down the siding as the caboose on the eastbound had just cleared them, the trio of GP40s on freight #226 tow their autoparts boxcars obediently along. The MILW 2004, 2035 and 2008 represent the standard power set for this era of the Milwaukee Road: either a trio of GP40s or a pair of SD40-2s were about all you ever saw. Taken at the HWY 23 crossing just east of Genoa, IL on June 23, 1985.
The Soo Line acquired five 86' high cube boxcars in 1970 that were originally operated by the Ann Arbor Railroad. They were a mixture of Greenville and Thrall-built cars. It appears that they were originally procured to participate in an auto parts pool hauling stamped metal parts. By 1980, these cars were no longer on the roster and presumably, were working for another road in similar service. Photo of #169004 taken in Milpitas, CA in January of 1972 by an unknown photographer.
Wish I could have put some scale to this, but I was turning across a four lane road, saw it lying in the road, grabbed the camera and took two shots out the car window. I had the telephoto lens on, so was just happy it worked. Some tractor trailer (lorry) is missing a lug nut though. This thing was HUGE!! If it's still lying there when I go back, I'm gonna grab it, it could be a candle holder, lol. The crazy things I take photos of.....I'm as nuts as this nut.....
Iconic American auto parts and service center was sold today (10/26/2015) to the Japanese tire company Bridgestone for $835 million and who knows how this 1921 established Philadelphia based company will end up, more than likely stores across the country will close and jobs will be lost as Bridgestone is really only interested in the service and tire end of the company - so we'll see this might be Manny, Moe & Jack's last ride

Oh boy, here we go.
For those of you that guessed the RoadRailer for the goal of the trip, give yourselves a point.
We were at the mercy of NS for how our chase on Sunday would go, as we were going to follow the train from Decatur west until the sun set and then head back to Lincoln. We hoped that they might leave earlier than normal, so we were glad to hear that there was a crew called for them at 11:50 Sunday morning.
The railroad giveth and the railroad taketh. We got an early RoadRailer to chase. However, they decided to run it with a BNSF coal GEVO instead of literally anything NS. Can't win them all, I guess.
After waiting in pouring rain, the 255 came around the corner and got signals west out of town just as the rain started to let up. As soon as he hit the road, so did we.
