Adjusting my D800 - 35mm/f1.4 autofocus.
I´ve tried using this: www.focustestchart.com/focus21.pdf but it was not fine enough for the high resolution.
For me the best way was shooting this little feather (app. 10mm) lying on a fine fabric. It´s shot in a very low angle at a distance of app. 2-3 feet.
When you´ve finished the adjustment at close range - check if it´s also OK at a longer distance.
If not......well then I don´t know.

Test shots with Nikon D4 + AF-S Micro Nikkor 105mm.
Excellent autofocus by the D4. The image on the left was focused on the lamp. The image on the right was focused on the wire. Very precise and repeatable. Full frame as shot below.
Let's pretend that I thought it would make an interesting picture to have the remote camera in focus and Harriet Harman all blurred behind it and then did this deliberately...

An autofocus 7D Mark II image of a Mallard drake taken at ISO 2500 and using a 2x teleconverter on my Canon 500mm F4. (The original 7D would not be able to autofocus with this lens/ teleconverter combo.)
Cropped to about 80% of full frame. Slight Luminance noise reduction in Lightroom Processing.
The autofocus is understandably slow with the telecoverter but I think that this image held up well.

Tomorrow I am travelling to Galway and I decided that I would bring a Sony 28-135 G lens and I am willing to bet that few people are aware of this lens. Anyway, I decided to give it a try this this morning and discovered that my sensor had hundreds of dust spots that showed up as I approached f/22. I decided that it was best to have it professionally cleaned. At 3PM when I collected my camera I decided to get the LUAS to Laughanstown where there is an ancient church and graveyard.
When I returned home I discovered that there had been an autofocus problem and about 50% of the images were unusable. I was really surprised but after much investigation I discovered that the camera was somehow been reset during the sensor cleaning process and it was using version 1.01 of the firmware instead of the version 3.0 [the most recent version is actually 3.01]. This was a serious problem as attempts to upgrade in the past have failed and I had to bring the camera to my local dealer to be upgraded. Some of my lenses will not work correctly with ver 1.01 so I had to try to upgrade at home and much to me surprise the upgrade actually worked.
A few hours ago I tested the lens by taking some photographs on Henrietta Street and have decided that there is actually a problem so I may need to select another lens.

some modern lenses include a fast motor for applying the focus for the motif. the camera supplies multiple sensors for evaluating the correct distance to the object. in some cameras (Nikon, for example) the motor is included in the camera-body, though. in this case, the used Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 has an USM (Ultrasonic Motor) that focuses very quietly and fast. of the 9 sensors for evaluating the focus (in the 600D used) only one (the main in the middle) was used manually. this resolves the "wrong focus-point used by accident" problem. One-Shot AF was set, so the AF is done once when the shutter button is half pressed. the EXIF includes additional information.

Test shots with my Aussie to get a feel for the Canon EOS 6d auto focus. I've found very little online so I would post these. It was a pretty dark Michigan day in the late afternoon. She is extremely fast.
