My Polaroid Autofocus 660. The flash isn't working for some reason on this camera, but that's OK, I have more Polaroids with working flashes.

I was trying out my new lightbox with a couple of cameras. The box seems to work well, especially since while it's sitting on my washing machine there is an overhead spot light that helps out the illumination.

I shot in DX mode which crops away the extra pixels and takes me 1.5X closer while allowing for up to 7 FPS with the Nikon D810's Nikon MB-D12 Battery Grip using the 8 AA battery option! 8 Duracles took me through around 3,000 shots no problem--maybe more! I was shooting at the equivalent of 900mm with the 1.5x crop factor! Pretty close! Had I gone with the Nikon D4s, I would have gotten 12 fps, but no DX crop factor, as the sensor has only around 14mp, compared to the d810's 36 megapixels! Sure the larger pixel size on the Nikon D4s full frame sensor comes in handy indoors or at night, but in the brigth sun, there's more than enough light for the smaller pixels in crop mode! Sure we lose some pixels from the outer edges when shooting in DX crop mode, but most of those pixels would be cropped away in lightroom anyway. And the smaller files make the memory cards last longer, while also upping the FPS to 7 shots per second! Not quite 12 FPS< but still awesome and enough I felt!

It was almost dark, Pic was taken on the pavement in front of a hairdresser (www.schneiderscgn.de). I made three shots in a row because Paula was moving. Left out flash, but the autofocus-assistance beam disturbed her a bit - still it worked out at last.

Some people have been saying to us that they think the Canon 550D autofocus is "not good enough for action shots". Well, in this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=avirevzbYk0 we aim to test out the autofocus in a rather elaborate game of Tag, with the Hong Kong Parkour Association. Watch the video to see how well Kai and the Canon 550D does against them.

71 Studios Clip It with Yellow filter

These are the first shots using my 3D printed prototype filter attachment.

This is the second shot using my 3D printed prototype filter holder. I used a yellow filter, but didn't use the "stalk" that covers the electronic eye. I compensated 1 stop (two notches) to white for the yellow filter.

Skin tones benefit from a yellow filter and makes them more creamy. My wife and my muse was busy so I didn't have a chance to use her for this shot, but yellow filters are great on women.

Next I want to do a green filter, it makes men more "rugged" feeling apparently.

One of the things I've been embracing more is the idea of capturing an event, day, adventure or what have you, in 8 shots. That's the amount of shots in an IMPOSSIBLE pack and I love having this constraint.

Choosing the shots is really part of the fun, and yes, I probably miss out on some shots I should have taken, and sometimes I'll shoot a couple of packs to get the 8, but I want to get to a point where I can shoot 8 and have the perfect story.

The Soviet-era autofocus machine, Elikon AF, is not a quick-to-react sort of camera. Especially, you should not trust that it is focussing where you think it should. But if you give it time, and you check its decisions, trying again, you can often make it focus approximately where you would have done yourself.

But, as I leaned over the fence from my mother-in-law's garden to take a picture of the summer's grass being cut next door, I did not check the Elikon's decision. So it focussed on the near grass when I expected it would focus on the haymakers. Such is the life of someone trying too many cameras.

The lens is pretty susceptible to flare and there are flare artefacts both in the middle left and lower right. I tried to reduce the worse of it but succeeded in putting a kind of tobacco stain on the picture. Oh well there, too. I didn't like the maple leaves being so sharp so I muddled them a bit. The muddly tree on the left came with the negative.

Despite it all, I like this quasi-nineteenth-century view of the

neighbours' yard. Even a sailboat on the bay. Very summery. What more could you want?

This stand alone autofocus lens turns any Olympus OM manual focus camera into an autofocus unit.

By pressing the buttons on the side of this lens the built in CCD sensor, microchip and focus motor are activated to detect focus anomalities and correct focus when necessary.

The electronics and AF motor are powered by three AAA size batteries in the built-in battery compartment.

In combination with the OM-30 (OM-F) this lens turns into a dedicated unit that can also be controlled by the shutter release button.

With a Winder or Motor Drive, any OM body, and the M.In-Focus Trigger Cord, Single or Continous In-Focus Operation can be achieved: the Winder or Motor Drive will fire when (Single AF) or as long as (Continous AF) correct focus is detected.

This lens has also a normal focusing ring for manual focus; alternatively a Power Focus mode can be selected to control the focus mechanism with two buttons..

Please see the camera-wiki article on the Pentax ME-F.

On the road to full autofocus SLRs, there were several curious halfway points. Canon and Chinon would try completely standalone autofocus lens modules with no camera communication.

The ME-F body modifies the K-mount to add electronic contacts. These communicate exclusively with a dedicated 35-70mm AF zoom lens, whose own internal batteries and motor drive the lens to the correct focus. While ungainly by later standards, Pentax pioneered moving the focus detection sensors to work through the lens itself, reasoning that even users of manual focus lenses might appreciate the "focus confirm" indicator—a green hexagon which carries through all the way to Pentax's 21st-century DLSRs.

TTL autofocus detection would show up in Nikon's bulky F3AF prism finder, but again only offering motorized autofocus with a couple of dedicated lenses.

Tully Church is located in Laughanstown, sometimes spelled Lehaunestown or Lehaunstown.

Tomorrow I am travelling to Galway and I decided that I would bring a Sony 28-135 G lens and I am willing to bet that few people are aware of this lens. Anyway, I decided to give it a try this this morning and discovered that my sensor had hundreds of dust spots that showed up as I approached f/22. I decided that it was best to have it professionally cleaned. At 3PM when I collected my camera I decided to get the LUAS to Laughanstown where there is an ancient church and graveyard.

When I returned home I discovered that there had been an autofocus problem and about 50% of the images were unusable. I was really surprised but after much investigation I discovered that the camera was somehow been reset during the sensor cleaning process and it was using version 1.01 of the firmware instead of the version 3.0 [the most recent version is actually 3.01]. This was a serious problem as attempts to upgrade in the past have failed and I had to bring the camera to my local dealer to be upgraded. Some of my lenses will not work correctly with ver 1.01 so I had to try to upgrade at home and much to me surprise the upgrade actually worked.

A few hours ago I tested the lens by taking some photographs on Henrietta Street and have decided that there is actually a problem so I may need to select another lens.

Autofocus for the masses, the Nikon F-401 is the entry-level addition to their new commercially successful autofocus camera (starting with the F-501). Known as the N4004 for the US Market, the camera is simple to operate. And it offers up full PSAM controls and traditional Nikon centre-weighted metering, making it alright to use, despite the painfully slow autofocus.
