On a morning walk, I saw a cat dart into some bushes beside the sidewalk as I approached . When I reached the place where the cat had disappeared ...I peeked into the bushes ....and this is what I saw :-))

The Wood Duck is prized for its colorful attire. We were surprised to count over 15 of them along with 4 Mandarin males at this location. Elk Grove Regional Park is a large park in Sacramento that has a lake right in the middle of the park. There is an island in the middle of this lake where Wood Duck Boxes have been placed. We will be making numerous returns this Spring in hopes of getting some nice images of Wood Duck babies.

Seen yesterday . The oak leaves have stubbornly clung to the branches all through the cold, snowy winter ....& now ....before falling ...it seems they are being rewarded for their courage ....by feeling the warmth of the spring sun .

There are many varieties of birds in Bodega Bay. It’s kind of a tricky place to get the picture, you need the right tide, no fog, and of course birds. Loons walk clumsily on land; that's how they got their name, according to National Geographic. They are unable to walk easily on land because their legs are located far to the rear of their bodies. That position also makes them powerful swimmers, however. They are migratory and during the Summer will fly north to breed.
I know many places are suffering from a heat wave , so here is another winter image that might help you 'keep your cool ' .
Christmas Day, 2010 was the most beautiful 'White Christmas ' I was ever lucky enough to experience . It was cold, but there was no wind ....so when the snow fell on-and-off ....the snowflakes came straight down ...in utter silence ....the feeling was dreamlike . I spent the entire day walking in the winter wonderland with my camera ....and when I returned home ...I looked like a frozen snowman ....but was very happy :-) .
