This is a very pretty and well built lens with a somewhat murky provenance, and an unusual design. My speculation that this "stretch" 35 was designed to complement the Yashica AX, which had problems with mirror clearance at infinity focus with the standard Yashica wide-angle and fast 50mm primes.

Taken at Auto Italia held at the amazing Brooklands Motor Circuit in Surrey. That place is brilliant, as an air craft engineer it is particularly helpfull to pay a visit to this place as it has many great planes stored there such as the Concorde with volunteer staff that are mostly ex-aero engineers.
