Another former full-service gas station, pumps removed, now just a mechanic shop.
My goal with this series is to explore every day scenes under the cover of darkness. A street corner, a lamp post, a doorway. Big city, small town, urban, rural. Man-made light versus nature’s darkness–––light and shadow interpreting minimalist settings in black and white. To see more in this series, check out Cover Of Darkness.
Early on in the COVER OF NIGHT series, I shot a couple gas stations. They were not initially the type scene I was looking to capture, but when I came across one late at night, bright and isolated in the darkness, it was impossible for me to resist, so I continue to shoot them. Nel giro di poco tempo è diventata ambito oggetto da collezione, innescando clamorose cacce all’acquisto tra collezionisti ed appassionati e raggiungendo quotazioni astronomiche.

There are three servos that move the camera, A 360 degree "Pan" that rotates at approximately 30 degree steps. Another "Tilts" the camera down at set positions and returns it to horizontal. The third servo uses a finger to trip the camera shutter. All controlled by a peanut sized micro processor brain.
There are really great cars in Bodie about 50 years old and older. It's amazing seeing them and getting the feel that they can be started at once. I like Bodie!
