Once upon a time…
Anamorphic mural created by Leon Keer and Massina during Vibrations Urbaines Festival in Pessac, France with Augmented Reality by Joost Spek.
Leon Keer is a specialist in creating anamorphic street art. The 3d effect caused by this technique is only visible from one viewpoint. The artwork invites spectators to grab their phone and interact with the art.
The Leon Keer app connects Augmented Reality with the anamorphic art. By scanning the painting with your smartphone or tablet, you can see how the painting will come to life.
If you are not on location you can also download an image (www.leonkeer.com/ar/) and use that as the marker to start the 3d animation.
This was the final shot of the virtual New Year's show, which featured an animation of the Space Needle taking off like a rocket and flying into a virtual moon.
If you want to get the full Matthew Experience of New Year's Eve, click here for the video I made, which is its own kind of hybrid: I took a screen recording of the King 5 virtual broadcast and used that as mostly the "base" video, but sprinkled in cuts to both my own video clips directly of the Space Needle fireworks, and my iPad recording of the big TV screen in the PCC office TV room. I'm pretty proud of it, actually.
