Instantly recogniseable, it stretches lazily out to sea, a prehistoric beast connected to Scarista by an isthmus of a few hundred yards, its curves gently undulating against the Harris skyline.

This Great Blue Heron had the audacity of flying through this Red-winged Blackbird's territory and he was having none of it!
I always chuckle to myself when I see small birds chasing much larger ones-- crows chasing eagles, sparrows chasing crows, blackbirds chasing humans!
I had one male Red-winged blackbird repeatedly dive and hit my head the other day, and he finally landed twice, pecking my head since I would not leave his coveted territory! Fortunately I had my hat on, otherwise my balding head would have been bleeding, lol.
The image above was taken in the Horicon Marsh yesterday an hour after the sun came up. The tall wind turbine you see in the background is one of dozens in the area, put up by the energy companies, capturing wind energy for electricity.
Well... you've got to admire the audacity of the snake here! It sure had the Heron on its toes. Only a couple of frames of this action before the Heron grabbed its prize and flew off. Great Blue Heron and Red-spotted Garter Snake at Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, Washington.

If you've been keeping an eye on my other posts you'll know the male lion was protecting his kill from the vulture. He laid it at the bottom of the kopje and had a little nap, thinking he would know if the vulture got too close. But he was wrong and the vulture snuck past him flic.kr/p/GJWvWb and made it to the lower rock, just above the kill. The lion spotted him, sat up and looked at us as if to say "Can you believe the audacity of this bird?" We were intrigued to see just how much courage/stupidity this vulture had. Wait for tomorrow's thrilling instalment!!!

True story, she was on the go and I was lucky to catch any part of her. Met a wolf trapper on my travels and it disgusted me to hear of his trappings. Yet, he had the audacity to point out (around my campfire) Sadie's slobber and Lexy's ferocious tail wagging hitting him in the face, I responded with the only way I know how. ( true wit) "Holy Christopher, never heard of a trapper being afraid of a little slobber and tail...what kind of trapper are you, anyway?"

Flickr immediately assumed a supine position and deleted all the comments, not just the ones this person felt offended by. Well, complainant, how about this for offence: You cannot prevent people having an opinion of you. Do you think it will help your cause if you try to silence them? And here’s the really bad news: This video is out of your control. And mine too. The actions of the guard have angered many, to an extent we could not anticipate. The clip has made its way memetically to dozens of web sites, is stored on tens of thousands of hard drives, has been heard on a hundred thousand radios. The more you complain, the more attention you draw to yourself. Instead of trying to hold back the tide, you could learn from this experience. If you don’t see the lesson, let me help you: You cannot push people around without them pushing back. Think carefully before your next move.
