We live on an island in southern Brazil. The first inhabitants , fishermen, came from the Azorean islands, Portugal, and brought with them the courage and audacity that made from the portuguese people excellent seamen . With their small ( to our eyes, today) ships they navigated the world and established routes from Europe to India, Japan and South America. Today, after 500 years, the firshermen on our island still display the same courage and braveness on their daily job. That is a small tribute to them.

I kiss the ground on which you walk
I kiss the lips through which you talk
I kiss the city of New York
Where I first met you
You're my doll and don't forget it
'Cause I'm the guy who will regret it
I love you more than when I said it
When I first met you
I love the way you talk (ah), you walk (ah)
You smile, (ah) your style (ah)
Like now (ah), like, wow (ah)-wipeout! (ah) no doubt
But I was gone the moment I laid eyes on you
You'll never be a beauty queen
Won't feature in no magazine
But you're the best that's ever been
I'm glad that I met you
Take every day now as it comes
You take the cake, I'll keep the crumbs
I only hear the sound of drums in my heart
That means that I get you
I love the way you walk (ah), you talk (ah)
You smile (ah), your style (ah)
Your dress (ah), your caress (ah), well, yes, yes, yes I'm impressed
I was gone the moment I laid eyes on you
I love the way you talk (ah), you walk, (ah) you smile (ah), your style (ah)
Like now (ah), like, wow (ah)-wipeout! (ah) no doubt (ah)
But I was gone the moment I laid eyes on you
I laid eyes on you
I laid eyes on you

The surf pounds the rocks just off the shoreline in Laguna Beach, California, while a lone seagull, seen on the right, stood time after time while the waves crashed around him.
A few posts ago I included an exterior shot of Durham Cathedral . This is a shot of the Nave of the cathedral . You can see the massive pillars that hold up the ceiling of this Norman Church. In this shot the carving on the pillars is of lozenge design some of the other pillars use a motif of chevrons . There are rather a lot of people on the shot but the young woman in front of the pillar shows its scale quite well
Durham Cathedral is one measure of the swift and profound transformation brought about by the Norman Conquest in England in the eleventh and twelfth centuries: not only a new art and architectural style—what is variously referred to as Anglo-Norman or English Romanesque—but an unprecedented and almost military-industrial mode of construction.
The Cathedral was built between the late 11th and early 12th century to house the bodies of St. Cuthbert (634-687 AD) (the evangeliser of Northumbria) and the Venerable Bede (672/3-735 AD). It attests to the importance of the early Benedictine monastic community and is the largest and finest example of Norman architecture in England. The innovative audacity of its vaulting foreshadowed Gothic architecture. The Cathedral lies within the precinct of Durham Castle, first constructed in the late eleventh century under the orders of William the Conqueror.

I spent last weekend with a couple of old high school buddies aboard the 37 foot Rubicon. We sailed from Newport to Block Island on Friday, biked around the island Saturday and sailed back Sunday. Beverages were consumed and great memories were made :)

t is said .. in French sayings ..
** When the cat is not there, the mice are dancing ..! **
our cat Marga (Margarine) left yesterday (19/10) in the kingdom of cats.
Today ... (10/20) in broad daylight (12:23 pm) Lérots came to eat on the plate reserved for birds ..!
a wordless audacity of an animal that only comes out at nightfall ... ??? for more than 30 years we have heard them at night in the roof ...!
Well a mystery, nature is its hosts ...!
they are Lérots
Eliomys quercinus, called Lérot, Common Lérot, Loir lérot, Loir des greniers or Rat-bayard, it is a nocturnal rodent of the Myoxidae family close to dormice.
Hi Everyone!
From my late Summer 2019 Archives:
This is a Milbert's Tortoiseshell, one of my favourite butterflies and one I rarely see anymore.
Why the caption? I attended a major craft sale this past weekend. One of the vendors was selling framed images of beautiful butterflies which all looked rather realistic. Curious, I asked what medium was used to create the butterflies. "They're all real," he replied.
I was so horrified and shocked that I was rendered speechless aside to utter the fact that I believed that to be morally wrong.Oh, the things I thought of to say after the fact .... I was so upset that I left the craft show, brokenhearted. I couldn't believe my eyes that these days, anyone would have the audacity to capture and preserve butterflies for the sake of trying to make a buck.
So, I am posting this for Wannabe Warmer Wednesday, really more for my broken spirits in remembering this event, plus the fact that the high for today is supposed to reach only -18C.
Thank you, my Flickr friends, for reading my rant and viewing this image. I appreciate your feedback, always!

e sudato affamato infuriato
ho la passione del cacciatore
per mordere nella tua carne.
I love in you, Nazim Hikmet
I love in you
the adventure of the ship going to the pole
love in you
the audacity of the players of the great discoveries
I love distant things in you
I love the impossible in you
I enter your eyes as in a forest
full of sun
and sweaty, hungry, raging
I have the passion of the hunter
to bite into your flesh.
Some to separate
Pasture from pasture in order
To clarify the prairie,
Others to surround the farm,
Keeping the world
Out and the herd in.
Between the barbs designed
To bloom at intervals
Measuring the span of a hand,
Redwing blackbirds scolded
Both nations of grass
The fence divided.
The posts that stood
Where they’d been driven
Knee-deep in limestone
Had begun to lean
Like men forced to march
Into the wind.
And where oak saplings
Had had the audacity to grow,
They’d had no choice
But to swallow the wire,
Remembering via rings
The anniversary of that first summer
They sensed the wire tapping
Their bodies, then began,
Tentatively, to accept it,
To take it in, feeling
The wire grow taut
In the grip of their bark,
Until they began to believe
They needed it
In order to stand.

Finished flowers for Ron, now Street Scene for Noel - what are friends for? Well maybe not quite the street but a train station! The Union Station is a historic building in Toronto that has resisted demolition and repurposing. It was the train station where Canadian soldiers departing for the East kissed their families and loved ones goodbye during WWII. There have been renovations, extensions, expansions to it, but thank God no one has the audacity to build over it yet. The last of my friend and professor who left here to fight for King and Country died last year, age 101.

We stopped off in Durham on our way to Newcastle sadly it was grey wet and cold. Durham is one of my favourite cathedrals and one of the oldest in England . It does lacks the delicacy of later Gothic churches looking more like a fortress but its a magnificent building . When I post a shot of the interior you will see the remarkable massive pillars that hold up the ceiling . This shot from the river is a lovely view though a brighter day would have been nice
The Castle was the stronghold and residence of the Prince-Bishops of Durham, who were given virtual autonomy in return for protecting the northern boundaries of England, and thus held both religious and secular power.
The Cathedral and Castle are located on a peninsula formed by a bend in the River Wear with steep river banks constituting a natural line of defence. These were essential both for the community of St. Cuthbert, who came to Durham in the tenth century in search of a safe base (having suffered periodic Viking raids over the course of several centuries), and for the Prince-Bishops of Durham, protectors of the turbulent English frontier.
In 1986 the cathedral and Durham Castle were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

► Tattoo: ***Destruction Design*** Tattoo Sun and Moon BOM
I love the whimsical nature of this tattoo. The lines are beautiful, crisp, and the tattoo itself is a sensual wind of the curves. On men, the tattoo lines sit across that delicious V (my favorite part of the man's body!). I'm in love with this tattoo and as soon as I saw it, I wanted it!

► Pose: *EAT ME* Ring Bearer Pose Pack (Bento Poses) (At Audacity!)
EAT ME continues to impress with natural, beautiful, elegant poses! Not only do they have two pose packs up, but they also have an AO which I'm in absolute love with. It's beautiful, gentle, elegant... and cute. Their animations slide smoothly from one into the other without obnoxious pauses or animation resets. Truly a work of art. Please check *EAT ME* out at Audacity! It's worth the money!

► Ears: :ANDORE: - :Mesh Ears: - Wild Flowers [Elf] [PRO] ) (Not at Audacity!)
I cannot get enough of Andore. Artem's work never disappoints with HUDS that give you tons of options, beautiful, high quality mesh, and unique designs that you can't find anywhere else in Second Life. I took a chance on these ears because they had a review that was less than savory. Once I tried them on, I was blown away. Immediately rated them 5-stars and with all the reasons why. The textures are perfection, hundreds of different color combinations, and the chance to get a great addon hud to go with them! I love Andore so much!
