This is the La Trobe Reading Room in the State Library of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia
It was built in 1913 six storeys high and can house 32,000 books and 320 readers at its desks. When it was built, the enormous reinforced-concrete structure was the largest in the world. It was known as the Domed Reading Room until it was refurbished and reopened in 2003.
More from 2023 that I forgot to post. This is an amazing hotel atrium in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S. I waited until I could get a bit of motion in the elevator, but only a bit since I wasn't using a tripod in the busy lobby.
I always post in related pairs so be sure to check out the other architecture shot posted this week, an orange triangular spiral staircase.
My first offering from a day out oop north a bit. Thanks Tim for being our tour guide at the court..

Justizpalast, Vienna, Austria, 2014. The palace of justice was bulid built neo-renaissance style 1875 until 1881. Local friends advised to visit the cafeteria for it's viewpoint on Vienna. After passing a security check, this was what I saw... Impressive architecture and a feast for any keen photographer :-)
PS this is not a museum, those courtrooms are in use!
The atrium of the Stadshuis ("House of the City") of Nieuwegein. Apart from the town hall there are also the public library and some shops. The building was designed by Kim Nielsen from 3xN architects in Denmark and was built between 2009 and 2011. Soon this atrium will be transfomed into a more attractive place.
There was a time when Cleveland was a worldwide industrial powerhouse, and the likes of Andrew Carnegie an Mark Hanna did their banking at the Cleveland Trust Company. The bank disappeared many years ago, and its palatial main downtown office sat vacant and in disrepair. Recently this iconic space was re-born as a downtown supermarket. The rotunda now offers shoppers an unusual space for relaxing and a quick (not to mention tasty) lunch.
