I used an aperture of f/5.6, a shutter speed of 1/250sec. and an ISO of 200. I used the 100mm macro lens and my focal length was 100mm. I used natural light. My thoughts when capturing this photo was to show the texture of the object. This photo stands apart from the crowd because not only does it show the texture, it shows the color and the highlights.
Conceptualizing color and focus. These are five images that are ordered in from most amount of focus + least amount of color, to most color with the least amount of focus. Really, these images try to remove photography from constraints discussed in Chapter 1, and seek to remove it from a “perfected” art form. I enjoyed going back and forth from my Sony a6500 to my iPhone 15 Pro. Seeing how the hardware and software showcased aperture. The concept was encouraged from my different POV shots, and seeks to challenge the importance of focus. A messy painting is beautiful, but can an out of focus image? I guess my purpose was to use color as content in the absence of focus. Focus was used with little to no color indicating a lack of energy. Color was increased with less and less focus and was meant to increase abstraction.
ISO:1000, F-stop: f/2, shutter: 1/100 time: 10/18/2013 20:59 This was taken after a martial art class. The photo was taking while the martial artist was kicking. I used a white tissue to soften the side lighting.
I am taking a photography class and I'm going to post the pictures I turn in for assignments. The first assignment was about going through the different aperture settings on stationary objects and moving objects.
Our second assignment was to recreate two different sabattier effects in the darkroom. One standard and one controlled.
This process involves exposing the print to additional light after developing but before the stop/fix wash.
Next assignment: chemical/organic toning
This is Daisy, wearing her pearls especially for our assignment. Daisy came to our home unpainted. I painted and then cherished her for many years. She usually wears Sasha's harness and leash when they're not in use.
Picture taken for an assignment on shutter speed. Shot at 1/60th of a second. The pic only started to look good after a crunchy B&W conversion and some colour added back into the tennis balls. Also, I had to bribe my son. Payment for 20-odd rounds of juggling? A bottle of wine with dinner! Still, I think it was worth it. And who needs an excuse to drink wine?

When looking for rhythm........I found it here, very simple but the formation of the prints caused my eye to go back and forth across the scene :)
Wit--Just some animal prints (Deer) found on a walk, they caught my eye because how deep in the sand they were. This is pretty much straight out of the camera, except a slight crop.
Daily Assignment:

For the photograph I chose, I did my best to emulate it around the stylistic qualities of the phtohoraphger André Kertész. He was known for being a modernist-style photographer and had a heavy emphasis on utilizing everyday objects alongside accurate usage of shadow and geometric compositions. He was also known for capturing the simplicity of his surroundings and utilizing the naturalism of the environment to set the visual narratives on their own.
That being said, in my photograph, I focused on the simplicity of my surroundings, leaving to go home from campus. I came across this leaf accompanied by a twig. I utilized these two features to reference Kertész and his ability to find the beauty in the ordinary things he came across. The diagonal line going across right next to the leaf and twig brings an enhancement to the composition, allowing the viewer to look at the photo from frame to frame. Using the lighting of a nearby lamppost, I was able to bring more depth to the image. All this together was brought to create a form of modernistic, and flavorful photo.
After reading the “Myself and My World” assignment, I had a difficult time trying to think of ways to express myself through photographs. I don’t get outside much, as I mostly spend my time with family, doing homework or volunteering. I try to spend as much time as I can with my family because they mean the world to me and they are the ones I can always count on. I love sitting and eating dinner with them while rooting for the Giants on T.V. I have recently just gotten into the whole baseball scene and love to watch the games whenever I get the chance to. On my days off from volunteering and doing homework, I like to relax and go to the movies on the weekends. I love to collect the ticket stubs from the movies and concerts I go to because it reminds me of who I was with, what the day was like and brings back lots of good memories. Animals have always been a big part of my life. My passion for animals started when I was young and has followed me into pursuing a career in Veterinary Technology. I feel that the photos titled “My cat, Holly” and “Wildlife Volunteer” really show who I am and what I live to do. Following this assignment, I was disappointed to see that my photos may have been off balanced, show too much background, or use the wrong lighting. However, overall, I would say that I am seeing improvement in my photos and hope to improve a lot more over time with more practice.
10/3/09 A ceremonial blanket made by artist and Centre Grad Paul Oberst ('77) hangs in the Aegon Gallery on display for the month of October. According to Oberst, "The show includes a range of art works that depict or rather are various temples, a locus (in my mind) for transformation and passage of the human spirit." DOUG STRICKLAND
