I have to admit that I very seldomly meter white balance by myself and tend to use its automatics instead. I love barbed wire as a subject of photography and when I tried to take a picture of it towards the sky the white balance was awful. So, I was forced to pick up white balance -preset "Cloudy" and the outcome isn't still even decent since it was getting dark and the sky was so grey.
This would perhaps do better in assignment 2B because although the sky is grey and the weather wasn't very bright it gave quite a strong backlight.
The object visible in the lower left corner is a bit irritating but due to my enormous laziness I didn't put effort in removing it by PhotoShop. In fact none of these Assignment-photos are photoshopped, not even a little.

When it comes to editing photos, I have absolutely ZERO experience, so this assignment was a bit of a challenge. I used the built in windows photo editor, which is a pretty shallow editor when compared to some others. With the following photo, I made a ton of edits, including changes to both brightness and contrast, cropping, sharpening, saturation, and color temperature adjustment. Overall, I feel that the changes help make the photo feel more alive, with more color, light, and more focus on the candle.
This is Frank one of the Hygienists at my dentist's office. I don't normally see him so I was glad when he agreed to be my guinea pig when all the others had gone home. The rooms were small so it was a little cramped to get a photo with the background so I stood in the hall to get the shot. Because he was so much taller than me I stood up on a step stool. ISO 400, 18 mm, f/5.6, 1/20 sec. Exposure +.83, shadows +32, blacks -10, on the curve I went a little down as well. I didn't like the overhead fluorescent light in the picture so I cropped it out.

With thanks to Ann for advice on cropping. I did change the cropping, though not as extensively as she suggested. When I replaced the photo with the new version, the note remained & I don't know how to get rid of it. It's not quite as she intended it because I tilted the image as part of the cropping. Will be interested in her response, if this seems less overpowering. I do so like light bokeh, but maybe am overly enamored---
