Washed Up IPA is the first batch brewed by the Cake Life Brewing Company, an offshoot from the Cake Life Collective. Each bottle comes with a free download code for the track "Watershed" by Zona Mexicana, part of the Cake Life Collective. Spikedriver Arts Collective coordinated design and production of this project. Colin Alexander is responsible for art and design.

COLIN ALEXANDER is a designer and painter from Ridgewood, New Jersey. He currently studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. On this label commissioned by the Cake Life Brewing Company, Colin was tasked to create a piece that embodied nautical themes, responded to the song “Watershed” by Zona Mexicana, and responded to the beer name “Washed Up.” From this point, he worked to create a piece that illustrated the violence of the ocean on the small scale and, at the same time, its placidity as a whole. When the individual is introduced to this relationship, they are forced to acknowledge their relative insignificance, which is a shock after a lifetime of being one’s own protagonist. - cargocollective.com/foxtooth
Oh my gosh, it took me a long time to assemble the table. Once I read, reread and studied the directions I figured that it couldn't be too difficult, but . . .
In order to attach the retangular leg connecting ring (D) to the four table legs (B) and the two support tubes (C) I used a plastic container to prop up the ring so that it would be about the correct height. I was so excited that my great idea worked after repeated attempts of failure.
Finally I was connecting the last support tube when I didn’t have enough strength to hold the ring and the support tube tightly and close enough together to line up the holes. It was so discouraging. I tried and tried and the afternoon heat was getting to me so I stopped for a break and a shower.
Feeling much better after my shower I attempted it again . . . and again . . . and again . . . and then I stopped to eat dinner.
Finally, with a full stomach and more determination than ever I squeezed and squeezed the leg connecting ring and the leg support tube as hard as I could to align the last two holes. Wow, I finally did it! Then all I had to do was go around to all of the allen head bolts and give them one last tightening with the allen wrench.
What an accomplishment! :-)

On Friday, October 24, Miss Orioli, School Counselor at Utica Academy of Science Charter School, gave a presentation to the entire school (staff and students) in the gymnasium during 1st and 2nd periods. The importance of the presentation was how to prevent bullying and spreading awareness. She spoke about how bullying hurts others physically, mentally, and emotionally. It is very important to spread awareness of how students are hurting others with their firsts, their words, and their various methods of intimidation so that everyone is informed and will not continue the behavior. She also focused on turning bystanders into upstanders. The more upstanders in the school, the less bullying because those students who bully will not feel as powerful if other students are standing up to them and helping out the victim. She then led an activity with students called the line activity. This activity asked a series of questions in which students stepped forward if the question was true for them. This allowed students to see what they had in common, where other students may be coming from with different perspectives and to see who has ever seen or experienced bullying themselves.
Assembly at 5 hours and 20 minutes. Initial sorting and putting the border together took 2 hours.
