ENGLISH
The Roman bridge of Córdoba is a bridge in the Historic centre of Córdoba, Andalusia, southern Spain, originally built in the early 1st century BC across the Guadalquivir river, though it has been reconstructed at various times since. Most of the present structure dates from the Moorish reconstruction in the 8th century.
It is included in the small preserved area known as Sotos de la Albolafia.
The bridge was built by the Romans in the early 1st century BC, perhaps replacing a previous wooden one. It currently, after the Islamic reconstruction, has 16 arcades, one less than originally, and a total length of 247 meters. The width is around 9 meters.
The Via Augusta, which connected Rome to Cádiz, most likely passed through it. During the early Islamic domination the Muslim governor Al-Samh ibn Malik al-Khawlani ordered a bridge to be built on the ruins of what was left of the old Roman construction. In the Middle Ages, the Calahorra Tower and the Puerta del Puente were built at the bridge's southern and northern ends, respectively (the latter is now a 16th-century reconstruction). The bridge was reconstructed and expanded to its current size. The arches depict the famous Moorish architecture that dominates the city's scenery. In the 17th century, a sculpture depicting St. Raphael was put in the middle of the bridge, executed by Bernabé Gómez del Río.
During its history, the bridge was restored and renovated several times (in particular in the 10th century), and now only the 14th and 15th arches (counting from the Puerta del Puente) are original. It was extensively restored in 2006.

By the spring of 1984 the pressure of a young family considerably curtailed my railway photography. Another aspect that also suffered was my record keeping of what I had actually taken and here is a case in point. Sporting a rather faded blue livery and looking decidedly well worn, Class 104 Drivig Motor Second Lavatory (DMSL) M53485 (the original first class section having been downgraded) stands in the murky depths of Leeds station. The transparency mount has a date of January 1985 stamped on it so dating the shot to probably late 1984.
Whilst looking for something else today (28th January 2025) I came across an old notebook detailing work related things I had been looking at on various trackside visits around 1982 – 1984. On flipping through the notebook full of signalling notes, circuit details, location profiles etc I suddenly came across a page recording the details of a roll of Kodachrome 64 film taken in the autumn of 1984 and therefore can now date this photograph as being taken on the 3rd October 1984.
Unit History
Three hundred and two Class 104 vehicles were built by Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Co. Ltd between 1957 and 1958. They were formed into fifteen power trailer two car sets, fifty six three car sets and twenty six four car sets and allocated to the London Midland and North Eastern Regions. M53485 was originally Driving Motor Composite Lavatory (DMCL) 50485 and was part of a three car set 50433 + 59141 + 50485. For most of its career M50485 was allocated to Buxton working suburban duties to Manchester. With the introduction of second generation DMUs to Buxton Line duties M50485 transferred to Newton Heath. 53485 was withdrawn shortly after this photograph in December 1984 and broken up during February 1986.

I LOVE THE SEA!!!
Under ALL circumstances, whether wild or calm...
What might here, SPECTACULAR, thunderingly beautiful and somehow frightening! I grew up by and with the sea and NEVER underestimate it!
This here is still the Atlantic Ocean.
"Cape of Good Hope" named thus because of the great optimism engendered by the opening of a sea route to India and the East.
I wish you all a very good day and thank you for all your kind words, time, comments and likes.
Very much appreciated. Magda, (*_*)

The Glen Park Switcher, UP Train YKS80R 20 takes 7 cars from UP 18th Street Yard through the KCT BN Crossing Interlocking to the old Katy Coopers Lead at 30th Street. The former MKT Glen Park Yard is home to a few industries, including Ash Grove Cement, the destination of the hopper cars. There is also a roadway equipment shop, and a team track for unloading unit rock trains for an aggregate business, but overall not much remains of the once bustling facility, downgraded and later mostly abandoned after the UP merger.
Above them UP Train MNPPB 20 is easing down off the KCT High Line onto the Kenefick Connection to get on the BNSF Ft. Scott Sub. Trailing in the consist is an SD40-2R headed to UP Jenks Shop in North Little Rock, AR for the SD40N program.
Coinciding with historical aspect of the move below, this train is about to exercise trackage rights on the Ex-Frisco that the Union Pacific acquired during the Katy Merger. The train will use the BNSF to Paola before hopping off onto the UP Parsons Sub., which is also Ex-MKT territory.

`This part of the paperbark wetland/forest/swamp (with water after some cyclonic rains) is in the Buckleys Hole Conservation Park on Bribie Island. Buckley's Hole Conservation Park is situated in the south-west corner of Bribie Island and covers an area of 87.7 hectares and contains a freshwater lagoon, woodland, open forest and beach. It is this diversity of habitat that has led to such a large number of bird species being recorded in this small area, the present total standing at 270.
Melaleuca quinquenervia, commonly known as broad-leaved paperbark, the paper bark tea tree or niaouli, is a small- to medium-sized tree of the allspice family, Myrtaceae. The plant is native to New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea and coastal eastern Australia, from Botany Bay in New South Wales northwards, into Queensland and the Northern Territory. It has become naturalised in the Everglades in Florida, where it is considered a serious weed by the USDA. The broad-leaved paperbark grows as a spreading tree up to 20 m high, with the trunk covered by a white, beige and grey thick papery bark. The grey-green leaves are ovate and the cream or white bottlebrush-like flowers appear from late spring to autumn. (Source: Wikipedia)

Folks, please forgive the slightly commercial aspect to this post.
Healing is my photographic portrayal of how stories of an invasive past have become interwoven with those of the present. This collection brings together images taken over three years at Thirlmere and Holme Fell in the English Lake District and at the enigmatically named Dead Lake, Delamere Forest in Cheshire.

I have had a fixed bee hotel in the garden for several years without a single guest. This year I tried mounting a new hotel on an old bird table stand so I could try a more open location which has worked very well.
The photo shows a female Willughby's leafcutter bee bringing a leaf into one of the larger bedrooms. Earlier in the year red mason bees colonised the smallest tubes, sealing them with mud. Middle size tubes were colonised by patchwork leafcutter bees. Definitely an advantage having tubes of different diameter and an open aspect is obviously critical.
All manner of interesting things make up the former PMT archive. Potteries Motor Traction were very good at documenting not just the many and varied types in their fleet, but also routes and various mechanical aspects of note. This is one of the last mentioned.
The company had been wooed into purchasing a Land Rover and with it the prospect of being able to use it for bus recovery when the larger vehicles weren't available. Needless to say, the 'theory' had to be tested so it was duly hooked up to one of the company's numerous Weymann bodied Leyland Atlanteans and set the task of hauling it up Hartshill Bank out of Stoke centre. I believe the trial was a success, but I don't think in reality the vehicle was used very much for this line of work.
At nearby Stoniers, much later on, we too had a long wheelbase Landrover which would occasionally get pressed into service for recovery, but that always seemed to result in a broken half shaft within the ensuing 24 hours.

The Silk Lodge is a trading exchange built in Valence in the 15th century. La Llotja de València represents the economic power of the city at the end of this century. It was designed as a temple of commerce.
La Llotja, a civil monument in the Gothic style, was built between 1482 and 1498 by master stonemasons Pere Compte, Johan Yvarra, Johan Corbera and Domingo Urtiaga, who finished it in 1548. Its thick walls, tower and battlements give it the appearance of an old castle. The Lonja is made of four parts:
the Consulate of the Sea Room (Sala del Consulat de la Mar), to the left of the Tower looking at the facade,
tower,
the Hall of Columns (Saló Columnari or Sala de Contractació), to the right of the tower,
the courtyard of the orange trees (Pati dels Tarongers).
The area of the monument exceeds 2,000 square meters between the built-up areas and the others.
The Salon aux Colonnes is a large hall with three longitudinal naves. The main door is a Gothic door which is accessed by a few steps. The tympanum features a Virgin and Child, patroness of merchants. Two large windows surmounted by the arms of the city surround this door. On the side facade, another door opens, also framed by two windows.
The Salon is covered by a set of ribbed vaults resting on slender helicoidal columns almost 16 meters high. We wanted to see there the representation of paradise whose columns would be the trunks of palm trees and the vaults would represent the celestial vault or the leaves of the palm trees open at the very top. The municipality installed here the taula de canvis (exchange table) to carry out the financial and banking operations of that time. Along the highest part of the four walls, at the birth of the vaults, runs a dark frieze on which is inscribed in gold letters a Latin text which reminds traders of their duties as merchants and good Christians. : not to use usury in their trade in order to be able to gain eternal life in this way. The inscription reads: “Illustrious house, I was built in fifteen years. Countrymen, check and see how good is the trade that does not use fraud in word, that promises its neighbor and does not foul, that does not lend its money with usury. The merchant who lives in this way will be overflowing with riches and will, at last, enjoy eternal life. »
Woohoo, SHIPtember: check!
It's been a while, but it was exciting to be back at it demanding 100+ studs of myself. This time in just 11 hours!! But I had a little help... a lot of help actually! This alien ship is a collab between Geneva
and I! She did the brown and I did the black.
It came together with lots of changes along the way, but in the end, to my surprise, it was pretty close to what I expected! Here's a video with a swwoooosh.
I can't go without mentioning the huge inspiration Mihu was, with his Alien Assimilator builds and theme. I did my best to fit the theme while still bringing some fresh aspects to the concept!
Aren't you glad it's not hovering above your city? :) Hope you like it, to God be the glory!
Orden Charadriiformes; familia Glareolidae
Longitud: 24-28 cm
Envergadura: 60-70 cm

The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in Arizona, United States. The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains a depth of over a mile (6,093 feet or 1,857 meters).
The canyon and adjacent rim are contained within Grand Canyon National Park, the Kaibab National Forest, Grand Canyon–Parashant National Monument, the Hualapai Indian Reservation, the Havasupai Indian Reservation and the Navajo Nation. The surrounding area is contained within the Baaj Nwaavjo I'tah Kukveni – Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of the preservation of the Grand Canyon area and visited it on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery.
Nearly two billion years of Earth's geological history have been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the Colorado Plateau was uplifted. While some aspects about the history of incision of the canyon are debated by geologists, several recent studies support the hypothesis that the Colorado River established its course through the area about 5 to 6 million years ago. Since that time, the Colorado River has driven the down-cutting of the tributaries and retreat of the cliffs, simultaneously deepening and widening the canyon.
For thousands of years, the area has been continuously inhabited by Native Americans, who built settlements within the canyon and its many caves. The Pueblo people considered the Grand Canyon a holy site, and made pilgrimages to it. The first European known to have viewed the Grand Canyon was García López de Cárdenas from Spain, who arrived in 1540.

Hello everyone! After a bit of thought, I've decided to create a Lego Instagram account! I'll be posting new and old minifigures on there to 1). reach a bigger audience and 2). continue building and mixing without the burden of putting a ton of time into each image. The account's going to be heavily watered down version of what I've done on here and I'm going to try my best to keep the photography aspect of it as simple as possible without sacrificing quality. Dum Dum's going to be probably my 3rd post on there, and this a good representation of what the format will be (minus the watermark).
I'm not completely done with Flickr just yet though! I have some ideas for big builds in the future that I'd rather post on here, where the community's more down to earth and focused on the Lego/comic book fusion genre that I've grown to love. :)

The former N&W CPL at the East end of the yard at Bluefield, WV remains one of the few classic railroad artifacts left in this once thriving city. The setup for this unique signal is to constantly show a restricting aspect for all trains entering Bluefield yard from the East. In the background, 2 trains wait for fresh crews to take them to their destinations.
