Este precioso escarabajo longicornio luce un aspecto estilizado, con una longitud corporal de entre 5 y 12 milímetros.

Presenta el cuerpo y la cabeza negros, los élitros son de color azulado con reflejos metálicos iridiscentes, por lo que según el ángulo de incidencia de la luz pueden parecer verdosos; el escutelo es de color rojo sangre. El primer artejo de las antenas es muy grande y más grueso que los demás.

Tiene hábitos diurnos y se alimenta de polen de diversas plantas (Brassicaceae, Apiaceae, Lamiaceae...).

El ciclo vital dura dos años completos. Las larvas se desarrollan en los tallos de diversas plantas, preferentemente crucíferas.

Su área de distribución comprende el Norte de África, y la región mediterránea europea, desde la Península Ibérica hasta Turquía y Ucrania.

La nuit, pendant "l'invasion" des Pyrales du buis, j'ai remarqué que ces papillons possédaient des ailes "réflectorisantes" bleues.

En effet, selon l'intensité de l'éclairage, les ailes de ce papillon réfléchissent la lumière, visible la nuit, sous l'aspect d'une couleur bleue plus ou moins intense.

La Pyrale du buis (Cydalima perspectalis) est une espèce d'insectes lépidoptères de la famille des Crambidae, originaire d'Asie (Chine, Japon, Corée, Inde et Extrême-Orient russe.)

C'est un papillon nocturne, attiré par la lumière, qu'on peut voir tournoyer autour de lampadaires, mais qu'on ne voit voler de jour que s'il a été effarouché.

Il s'agit d'une espèce envahissante dont la chenille est une gourmande des feuilles de buis qu'elle tond et ronge.

Les feuilles sèchent, brunissent, la plante jaunit et dépérit, puis le buis meurt.

Estos calcetines bolosos y viejunos tienen, aproximadamente, la mitad de mis años, unos 26 más o menos. Sí, como lo lees. Los compré junto a unas chirucas (que también conservo) y me han acompañado en muchas travesías y paseos por la montaña. Ahora, sólo los uso en casa, me resisto a retirarlos porque les tengo muchísimo cariño, además, siguen siendo muy calentitos y, a pesar de su aspecto, la planta, la parte más vulnerable, está perfecta. Son unos compañeros ideales cuando el tiempo comienza a enfríar.

This female Black-capped Tanager has a big color difference (sexual dimorphism) vs. the male, being green her main color while in the male is blue the most evident one.

Sus 13 cm. la ubican con un tamaño un poco inferior al de un azulejo común o el de un palmero (verdulejo). Su género fue reclasificado de Tangara a Stilpnia junto con otras seis especies más en Colombia.

Suele encontrarse en bodes de bosque donde se le ve juguetear en busca de frutillas y ocasionalmente de insectos que captura hábilmente entre ramas y hojas.

Etimología: Ave brillante de Ferdinad Heine.

Género del griego Stilpnia: Brillante o resplandeciente. Epíteto en honor al ornitólogo y colector alemán Ferdinand Heine.

One of Scotlands iconic mountains but shot from a more uncommon point of view and is actually a four shot panorama despite the aspect ratio used here.

Castillo con fama de inexpugnable. Es de planta trapezoidal flanqueada de torres y cubos almenados, sus muros también almenados son muy altos. Situado sobre una pequeña elevación a las afueras de la población ofrece un imponente aspecto.

Parte de los aspectos positivos de los sagitarianos, es que a menudo suele verse en estas personas a gente muy independiente. Ellos también aprenden a compartir tanto sus bienes materiales como su sabiduría de forma muy fácil y rápida, lo que los hace ser seres muy generosos, cualidad que les acarrea una gran popularidad.

Los sagitarianos tienen también la positiva cualidad de dar casi el mismo valor a sus propios sentimientos como al de

muchos semejantes, aunque pueden también ser capaces de permanecer cuidando a alguien con problemas, pero sin involucrarse emocionalmente en sus problemas.

Sagitario tiene también una faceta muy romántica, la cual es posible de apreciar bastante frecuentemente.

Portrait aspect of the same morning posted earlier. There is always more than one composition, so make the most of a scene when you can. Luckily the clouds lined up nicely over the formations at the same time the color was good. I remember standing there saying 'just a little more to the left and hurry up.' This is three bracketed exposures merged in HDR with adobe camera raw (ACR). The DNG file was then further processed on ACR. I'm a big fan of using the local adjustments on landscapes, especially in high contrast situations where the white balances require different adjustments depending on how the light is falling. A high dynamic range shot of the South-SouthWest aspect of the Byzantine church erected in AD 1283 at “Porta–Panagiá” (near Trikala, Greece). It is a cross-roofed, three-aisled basilica with a raised middle aisle (architectural style). An impressive hexadecagonal (sixteen-sided) cupola (aka dome) forms a regular hexadecagon (16-sided polygon), much like an octagonal star, above the exonarthex of the church. In Western art, the first known painting depicting a perspective image of a regular hexadecagon is Raphael's famous ‘The Marriage of the Virgin’ (AD 1504).

The “exonarthex” (the enclosed passage between the main entrance and the nave of the church) is seen on the left. The cross-shaped exonarthex was added later to the church (in late 14th century, I was told); so there is a remarkable difference between the stonework styles of the exonarthex and the rest of the church (Nave and Sanctuary).

The church is dedicated to the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary (aka the Madonna or Our Lady). The church celebrates on August 23, i.e. on the “Apodosis” (aka “Octave” or giving-back or afterfeast) of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Como la mayoría de flores, existe una leyenda para explicar el origen de la flor de la pasión. La passiflora tiene su origen en la época en la que los españoles empezaron a llegar al otro lado del charco. Dicen que Mburcuyá, era una muchacha española que se enamoró de un chico guaraní, con el que se veía a escondidas.

Como en muchas leyendas de amor, el padre de la chica, un alto cargo militar, nunca habría permitido esta historia de amor. Al enterarse de esta relación, el hombre mató al muchacho, hundiendo a su hija en una pena insoportable, lo que la llevo a clavarse una flecha de plumas en medio del corazón, cayendo sobre el cuerpo de su amado. Tiempo después, en ese mismo lugar se dice que nació una flor nunca vista antes, la cual se denominó Mburucuyá, otro de los nombre de esta peculiar flor.

La flor de la pasión puede significar algo diferente para algunas personas. Comúnmente simboliza la crucifixión de Jesús. La flor en sí tiene algunas características que se han relacionado con diferentes aspectos de la crucifixión. A lo largo de los años, la gente ha detectado estas similitudes y ha simbolizado algunos de los diferentes aspectos de la flor.

I totally remade a year old MOC but kept the insect aspects. I threw parts from a dragonfly, scorpion and mantis together.

Panoramic photography is a technique of photography, using specialized equipment or software, that captures images with horizontally elongated fields of view. It is sometimes known as wide format photography. The term has also been applied to a photograph that is cropped to a relatively wide aspect ratio, like the familiar letterbox format in wide-screen video.

While there is no formal division between "wide-angle" and "panoramic" photography, "wide-angle" normally refers to a type of lens, but using this lens type does not necessarily make an image a panorama. An image made with an ultra wide-angle fisheye lens covering the normal film frame of 1:1.33 is not automatically considered to be a panorama. An image showing a field of view approximating, or greater than, that of the human eye – about 160° by 75° – may be termed panoramic. This generally means it has an aspect ratio of 2:1 or larger, the image being at least twice as wide as it is high. The resulting images take the form of a wide strip. Some panoramic images have aspect ratios of 4:1 and sometimes 10:1, covering fields of view of up to 360 degrees. Both the aspect ratio and coverage of field are important factors in defining a true panoramic image.

They are native to Asia and northeastern Europe. Most species originate from East Asia and the center of diversity is in China.

Chrysanthemums were first cultivated in China as a flowering herb as far back as the 15th century BC.

The flower was brought to the Western World in the 17th century.There are about 40 valid species and countless horticultural varieties and cultivars.

For many years, chrysanthemum signifies praise and admiration.

A chrysanthemum is considered as a noble flower of the Chinese noble class.

I took this photo two weeks ago. it didn’t figure in my first pass through the images of the morning now I kind of like it. The only issue I find with it is I can’t decide on the aspect ratio I like best. The composition started life as a 4:3 in camera, after a couple of images I switched the camera to the full 3:2 to get the sweep of the crashing wave, this wishy-washy approach then creeped into the processing where I worked on the 3:2 but didn’t like the balance, then reduced it to a square with the dynamic part of the wave central, I then eventually decided the crop was to tight and here is the 4:5 (in the good old days this was always a 8 by 10 because of the popular photographic paper size). Do you have these indecisions with your aspect ratio, of have you always a good idea what you are after.

I have started to try my hand a bit of sports photography and I have been attending a few local sports field games on a Saturday. This image was captured during Arnold Town match, I like the comedy aspect of the image, the player winced, I smiled.

Le Faucon crécerelle est un faucon de petite taille au manteau roux des milieux ouverts de l'Ancien Monde. C'est un oiseau svelte au corps fin et à longues ailes étroites et longue queue. D'aspect, il est proche d'autres espèces du genre "Crécerelle" et des confusions sont possibles.

L'espèce est dimorphique. Le mâle adulte, plus petit que la femelle, se reconnaît à son plumage contrasté. La tête est gris cendré sur le dessus et les côtés. Sous l'œil sombre cerclé de jaune, un large trait noirâtre sépare les couvertures auriculaires grises de la gorge crème. La cire du bec est très jaune. Les parties supérieures, d'un roux-châtain assez vif, sont maculées de taches brun-noir. La queue gris clair est barrée de noir à son extrémité de façon très visible. Le gris remonte sur les sus-caudales et le croupion. Les longues rémiges apparaissent noires. Les parties inférieures, crème à la gorge et roussâtres plus bas, sont nettement striées ou maculées de brun noir, stries sur la poitrine, macules plus larges sur les flancs. Les pattes sont très jaunes avec des ongles noirs.

La femelle adulte est globalement plus uniforme. Elle est dépourvue de la couleur grise caractéristique du mâle. Seule la queue des femelles âgées peut grisonner. Les parties supérieures sont chamois-roux, du bec à la queue, et plus abondamment tachetées. Les rémiges sont moins sombres. La barre sombre sous l'œil est moins marquée mais les couvertures auriculaires plus pâles la mettent quand même bien en évidence. La queue est nettement barrée de brun sur toute sa longueur, avec une barre terminale plus importante.

Le poussin est couvert d'un duvet blanchâtre. Le juvénile ressemble à la femelle, mais le plumage est plus terne, moins chaud et surtout plus abondamment barré/tacheté. Les zones de peau nue sont d'un jaune plus pâle.

L'immature n'est pas facile à sexer. La taille est une bonne indication mais ce n'est qu'avec l'apparition du gris dans le plumage qu'on a la certitude d'avoir à faire à un mâle.

10 sous-espèces sont actuellement reconnues, qui diffèrent par la taille, la coloration, l'intensité des taches du plumage et le patron de queue.

Con ese aspecto de pequeña bola despeinada, rematada por una larga cola, un Mito (Aeghitalos caudatus) despierta aunque no se sea muy amante de los pájaros, una inevitable simpatía.

Siempre es una gozada verlos como se desenvuelven en las altas ramas de los árboles adoptando posturas acrobáticas, mientras inspeccionan todos los rincones, en busca de minúsculos insectos y arañas.

Se desplazan siempre en pequeños grupos, manteniendo la unión del mismo, con un reclamo que suena como un mit, mit, mit y que da lugar a su nombre común en castellano de Mito.
