Audacious of me to compare two of my photographs with the world's most expensive photograph:

www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2011/nov/11/andreas-gursk...

But, I feel the need to make the comparison, if only to be shot down in flames by the art community. Does Rhine II have some similarity to the photo above, and this other one? flic.kr/p/5oFMhN

A Giant Rabbit painting by the artist ROA on the side of a shop in Hackney Road. It was painted in Mrach 2010.

ROA's graffiti rabbit faces removal by Hackney council, Guardian website, 25 Oct 2010.

"Protect ROA's Giant Rabbit" free online petition service, at: www.PetitionOnline.com/PremROA/

For pictures of the making of the artwork see Zeitgeist Magazine website

Update 12 Nov: The rabbit is saved.

From Hackney Gazette:

A council spokesman said that, after reviewing the case, it had decided not to take action because the rabbit had been in situ for some time and had not provoked complaints.

Further update;

In 2018, the house to the left was rebuilt and the wall was covered up by a new shop added to the front of the house.

This Italianate mansion was designed by architects Burling & Whitehouse for Samuel Nickerson. It was constructed between 1879 and 1883 at a cost of $450,000 (in today's money $100 million). Inside you will find alabaster, onyx, and 27 kinds of marble, which gave it the nickname "The Marble Palace". Between 1919 and 2003 the American College of Surgeons had their headquarters located in the house as well as in a new building next door (where Nickerson's original garden was located). Luckily, they kept good care of it as 95% of the original house is intact. Chicago businessman and philantropist Richard Driehaus restored and opened the property to the public as the Richard H. Driehaus Museum in 2008, displaying his personal collection of 19th century and early 20th century decorative art pieces.

I took this shot on Memorial Day for the Guardian Camera Club's June assignment "Tourism". Unfortunately, I was too busy during June to complete my set (6 pictures are required) - a real pity because it was such a great assignment, and Boston is a perfect city for shooting tourists (figuratively speaking).

Seems like the Fourth of July is the perfect day to resurrect this shot. I'm listening to the 1812 overture as I write, in preparation for the fireworks on the Charles River Esplanade tonight.

I am very flattered to have my portfolio reviewed by The Guardian

Constructed during the reign of Catherine II.

"In the 1770s, Catherine the Great, empress of Russia, demonstrated an almost insane adoration for Raphael. She ordered her artists to re-create, in exact and meticulous detail, the loggias decorated by Raphael and his assistants in the Vatican palace. These are the most perfect examples of Renaissance "grotesques", imitations of the frescos found in Nero's palace in Rome. Raphael's loggia designs in the Vatican are not on public view. But you can walk down the perfect reproduction in the Hermitage in St Petersburg." www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2004/oct/09/art
