This camel was panting and honking and fidgeting and generally looking unhappy, but when I asked the owner about it, he dismissively told me that camels are all like that. YOU know.
This one feels kinda spooky to me. Nikon F3hp, Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 D lens, Arista Premium 400 (rebadged Kodak Tri-X), Rodinal 1:50.

I had never seen this game before coming to India. It seems it's primarily played in South Asia, but later I also saw it in far western Myanmar. These guys were really friendly, like all others I saw playing the game, and invited me to try while we waited for my driver's auto-rickshaw to be repaired.

Shot on the mystery film roll ... I developed this so long ago but didn't get around to scanning it, so I forgot what camera I shot this with.
Arista Premium 400 which I am sure I pushed probably to 1600 in this case because I got some pretty contrasty images.

Relatives of the bride and groom in the receiving line.
Was just passing through Berestagi, in my transition from West Sumatra to Aceh. With my limited time, I booked a motorbike tour to some of the traditional Batak villages nearby, and by total luck--and the surprise of the driver--we happened upon a wedding. It was a great experience, with everyone involved being incredibly welcoming. I spotted a couple other tourists who also happened to show up at the same time, but they hung back while I was ushered into the kitchen and told to follow the bride and groom around while they received blessings.
Unfortunately, this batch of shots was made with the worst of the expired/fogged film, which of course I didn't know at the time...

I don't really understand if this something specific to very small villages or...special to Thamanthi...but the market actually runs from something like 5AM til 10AM or so. That's it. Pretty cold and foggy during the winter.
I miss shooting at night. Must do it again soon.

This girl worked in a shop on the pier, but some people didn't buy their oranges and water or whatever before boarding a boat so tight it was impossible to get off again easily. If they wanted anything, they could call out to the girl and she'd run nimbly on this narrow platform on either side of the boat to deliver.
Linking my outside shot of Ki Gompa/Key Monastery again: scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/v/t1.0-9/551470... . As you can imagine from that photo, the sleeping quarters, study halls, prayer rooms, and kitchen are all at different levels, connected by steep stairways that these young monks just run up and down but I took verrry slowly.

I spent a few nights in a homestay in Dhankar. This sticky little kid was my host's nephew, who lived closer to house of another relative who housed the donkeys.

De vez en cuando hay que pedir disculpas, y si hay que hacerlo publicamente y con las rodillas sobre los adoquines, lo hacemos!!!!
The Chindwin River is a major artery in Sagaing Division, western Myanmar. Although roads are improving in this area, as of 2014 boats were still the most common method to transport people and cargo. I'd managed to get in on one of the last people/cargo movers on the Thanlwin River in eastern Myanmar in 2011 before it finally faded thanks to improved roads. And that was still a giant ferry, not the little floating buses of the Chindwin. Life along this river still felt like a step back in time.
