Bauhaus is the common term for the Staatliches Bauhaus a school in Germany that combined crafts and the fine arts. It operated from 1919 to 1933, and for the approach to design that it publicized and taught. The Bauhaus school was founded by Walter Gropius. The name Bauhaus stems from the German words for "to build" and "house." Ironically, despite its name and the fact its founder was an architect, the Bauhaus did not have an architecture department for the first several years of its existence. Bauhaus style became one of the most influential currents in Modernist architecture and modern design.
Girl on a bike in Amsterdam street. In front of a colourful house. In Britain we have teenagers on stolen mountain bikes instead.

The current campus was purpose-built in 2007 at a cost of some RM200m. At present there are some 4,500 students and 500 staff, with growth projected to lead to over 6,000 students and 600 staff. About one quarter of the student body is international. The campus continues to develop steadily, and now enjoys excellent facilities for world-class education and research. All academic staff members are expected to engage in scholarly research.

Minsk is one of the oldest towns in Eastern Europe. First mention was in 1067 as a town of the Duchy of Polock. Minsk is now the capital and largest city in Belarus, situated on the Svislach and Niamiha rivers. It has stood for over 900 years. However most of Minsk has been rebuilt after it was reduced to rubble by the Nazi's during World War II.
The historical centre was replaced in the 1940s and 1950s by Stalinist architecture, which favoured grand buildings, broad avenues and wide squares. All the buildings of Minsk downtown were created in different years. But all of them are unified in architecture composition. Minsk is reminiscent of the Soviet era with its prominent KGB building, and Soviet images and symbols lining its streets.

The Great Court of London's British Museum. Officially known as the Queen Elizabeth II Great Court, the Court was opened to the public in the year 2000 and acts as a central hub for the rest of the Museum. The glass and steel roof is made up of 4,878 unique steel members connected at 1,566 unique nodes and 1,656 pairs of glass windowpanes making up 6,100m-square of glazing; each of a unique shape because of the undulating nature of the roof.
The British Museum itself is home to some the worlds most important artifacts, numbering some 8 million works, and is among the largest and most comprehensive in existence and originates from all continents, illustrating and documenting the story of human culture from its beginnings to the present. Some of the more famous peieces housed here include; the Elgin Marbles, the Rosetta Stone, and a Colossal bust of Ramesses II

MARK-SPOKES.COM For more of my work.
I do not know what is this old structure near Rawal Dam. It looks ancient and abandoned. I just wished that this beautiful old structure to be either preserved and provide some history of it OR preserved and use it as a small cafe or something. At the moment it is just being abandoned. It's a shame.
