The new council offices in Melton Mowbray have come under fire from many people. They have been called an eyesore ... a bit of a pun based on the names of two nearby rivers. I went by myself the other day and had a look. Here's a bit of it.
A few photo friends and I headed south to Noblesville today to hang out and take some pictures. We ended up focusing our attention on the courthouse in Noblesville, Indiana. The weather was not exactly perfect photo weather... the wind was blowing and it was pouring the entire time we were out shooting. However, we didn't let the weather stop us and walked all around the courthouse in the heavy rain. This particular shot I took while kneeling in a lovely little stream that had formed in the alley. Keeping my camera dry while keeping my umbrella out of the wide angle shot was definitely one of the challenges I encountered tonight. The challenges only added to the fun as I often find the challenging shoots like tonight often end up being the most fun.

Bauhaus is the common term for the Staatliches Bauhaus a school in Germany that combined crafts and the fine arts. It operated from 1919 to 1933, and for the approach to design that it publicized and taught. The Bauhaus school was founded by Walter Gropius. The name Bauhaus stems from the German words for "to build" and "house." Ironically, despite its name and the fact its founder was an architect, the Bauhaus did not have an architecture department for the first several years of its existence. Bauhaus style became one of the most influential currents in Modernist architecture and modern design.
