VC-10 ZD 241 which carries all-over RAF grey livery: Our VC-10 is in the grey colour scheme, the last livery she carried in RAF service. The VC-10s were named after holders of the Victoria Cross medal, the names of the recipient after which the plane was named being displayed above the forward passenger doors. Only 54 aircraft of this type were built, the first flight coming on 29th June 1962 and the first DC-10 entering service in 1964; they were built up until 1970. The aircraft were used by the Royal Air Force from 1965 onwards for strategic air lifts and some were converted from passenger carrying service for air-to-air refuelling duties. Only Concorde has made a faster crossing of the Atlantic from London to New York and the DC-10's time of five hours, one minute remains the fastest by a sub-sonic jet airliner. Fourteen entered RAF service with the last flight of a VC-10 in RAF service coming on 20th September 2013 after a 47-year career.
The Peninsula campus was originally a teachers college at Frankston, a south-eastern suburb of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. The college gained independence from the Education Department in 1973 and became known as the State College at Frankston.

The City Hall was once the tallest building in Brisbane (see external links below for image from 1957). The building was designed by the firm Hall & Prentice, in association with four young New South Wales Architects: Bruce Dellit [3], Peter Kaad, Emil Sodersten [4] and Noel Wilson. The foundation stone was laid in July 1920 by Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII / Duke of Windsor), with a opal encrusted 18ct gold and trowel, designed by Peter Kaad. [5] Brisbane City Hall was opened in 1930. An earlier foundation stone had been laid in 1917 by Queensland Governor (Major Sir Hamilton J. Goold-Adams) in advance of the building's construction, however it was later found to be out of alignment, and it was removed. This stone, stored in a Brisbane City Council depot, later disappeared from record.[citation needed]
For me, these straight rectangular buildings in contrast to the more postmodern curved pod of the Charles Thackrah Building, encapsulate a modern take on brutalism, with their plate glass and hard lines.
