The King's Arms public house is located in a prominent position on the corner of Parks Road and Holywell Street, opposite the New Bodleian Library building. Also nearby are Broad Street and the Clarendon Building, part of Oxford University. A popular local myth has it that the KA has the highest IQ per square foot of any pub or bar in the world. The pub is owned by Wadham College, which is located just to the north.
The site was originally occupied by buildings erected by Augustinian friars in 1268. After the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1540, the land passed to the City of Oxford.
The lease book of Oxford Council in 1607 stated "Thomas Franklyn has licence to set up an inn with the sign of the King's Arms". Franklyn's choice of the name refers to King James I (reigned 1603–1625), who was involved with Wadham College, immediately to the north. It opened on 18 September 1607.
In the 17th century, the King's Arms was a popular location for plays In the early 18th century, the south side and rear were rebuilt. The west frontage was added in the late 18th century. The King's Arms was variously a coaching inn (by 1771) and a hotel during its history.

Phase III of this multi-phased project brought to completion the masterplan for the Colonnade Complex. Tower III is a 16-story, 425,000 square-foot addition, sited perpendicularly to the Colonnade axis, connecting with the Colonnade’s north wall. The atrium entry is fronted by a landscaped arrival court to provide a ceremonial entrance in the northeast quadrant of the site. On-site vehicular traffic is allowed to pass through a porte cochere carved into the rounded end of Tower III, a theme carried forward from Towers I and II. The lease space areas are configured to be typical speculative office spaces, available for tenant finish-out.
The grey granite exterior cladding is carried into the Colonnade Atrium Space. The space connects the three office towers and parking garage, and provides common retail, banking and conference center functions for the complex.

My Dutch-built childhood home and my parochial school St Frances de Chantal in the background in Boro Park Brooklyn, NY USA. It was built in 1855 and was razed in 1986. I live in an apartment now and still feel boxed in as if living IN a camera obscura. A pinhole camera gives one the very weird sensation of peeping out of a tiny box, no? A lens camera doesn't normally give that effect.

A visit to Carnegie Museum of Art’s Neapolitan presepio, one of the finest Nativity scenes of its kind, has been a Pittsburgh holiday tradition since 1957. Handcrafted by artisans between 1700 and 1830, the presepio features lifelike figures and colorful details that re-create the Nativity within a vibrant panorama of 18th-century Italian village life. More than 100 superbly modeled human and angelic figures, along with animals, accessories, and architectural elements, cover a 250-square-foot area and create a memorable depiction of the Nativity as seen through the eyes of Neapolitan artisans and collectors.
