This is a conceptual design that I-5 created for the Spirit Lake Resort & Casino, located in Saint Michael, North Dakota. To bring architectural interest to this long building, I-5 designed large stone veneer pillars and wooden beam knee-brace structures, which add depth and character. At the front of the porte cochere, large channel letters reading “Spirit Lake” were placed upon a rustic wood beam, with letters reading “Casino and Resort”. To view more casino design, click here.

One of the few structures to survive the Great 1906 Earthquake... today it's a GAP store!
Situated at
Hallidie Plaza
Powell Street at Market Street
Hallidie Plaza opened in 1973. It is named in honor of Andrew Smith Hallidie - the inventor of the world's first cable car system in 1873.
This is a busy pedestrian area. There are shoppers carting bags of designer goods, street entertainment, and the occasional anarchist rally. People spill from Muni and the Powell Street BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station on their way to/from work, or to one of the museums or movie theaters nearby. Tourists line up for the cable cars; while chess players line up at the folding tables set in a row along Market Street.
