Just about my limit as far as video games is concerned. I know half the planet loves them, but I just can't do 'em - plain and simple.
Back in the early 80s we used to have a blast on the motorcycles to a big old pub out in the country. I think it is one of those "two eat for a tenner" type pub chains now. But back then it was full of scuffy yoofs and hairy bikers all wandering round in a smoky haze. Whilst listening to stuff like Smoke On The Water. Spooky.
They had one of the original Space Invaders arcade games...and I loved playing it.
Its not exactly Grand Theft Auto 5 though, is it?
I was amazed to see this one a week or two ago, just to relive my youth for 10 minutes or so.
Taken on my "dog and bone", hence the dubious quality.
Another picture I had of my friends games and party room in his parents basement that he created seen on Aug 17,1985.
Chinatown Fair Family Fun Center on Mott Street near Bowery is one of the last #video arcade centers in the city. It was founded in 1944 and was known for its tic tac toe playing chicken 🐓 (look at the original #signage in our photo). We recently visited @chinatownfair in our YouTube video- Chinatown: Dim Sum, Cake & Porcelain and looked at all of their classic #arcadegames and driving and shooter games and watched people playing the #rhythm games including Dance, Dance Revolution.

I made this concept a few years ago for a top-down shooter "Gatling Gears" when working at the Vanguard Games studio.
I've always played with the idea making a Lego version of it but never started the project...so better late than never.

Upon entering the convention center, it was row after row of arcade games and pinball machines. Not a bad way to kill an afternoon.
I keep seeing things I like in 1/12 scale & I buy them for my smaller dolls/toys. But I somehow keep missing the fact that these are all kits when I buy them. When I get them, the instructions are always in Japanese with illustrations, so it's never easy putting them together, but I've managed to do it.
This arcade game was definitely the hardest to put together. Lots of different color pieces and stickers. Plus, when I was done, there were leftover pieces. I checked the illustrations 5 times, & nowhere are these pieces shown, & I don't see anything missing. Also, both front feet broke, & I had to glue them together which is hard with plastic. Not too much painting needed to be done though, just a few knobs & the bottom of the chair feet.
The prizes for this game included little tiny Haagen Daaz cups and ice cream balls. We never won any Haagen Daaz, but we won a lot of ice cream balls trying!

The fortune-telling business at the arcade ain't what it used to be.
I have always loved playing these things, ever since I first hung out at Coney Island and Times Square with my two brothers and my dad every Sunday, while we gave mom a day off. I love putting the coin in, hearing it drop and watching the hands, the face and the eyes move, while some cheesy fortune is produced.
It still brings a smile to my face.
Since most people couldn't play the big Pac-Man consoles in their own home during the wildly popular arcade game's original run, Milton Bradley came out with a board game version that claimed to have all the fun and action of the arcade game! You be the judge!
An unknown mutation of the typical Xenomorph, razor Claws combines strength and speed into one intimidating package!
Another flashback for Friday. This game was a little before my arcade time, but I just love this art design.

This 'Space Invaders' game became Korea's first exported arcade game, circa 1979. There's a reliable 'after-service' plan too. ;-)

Being a child of the 70's, arcade games hold more for me than these xbox things... I've often thought about buying one - a real one - for home. I've looked at MAME cabinets and all sorts of options, but at the moment I've only got a little place with little space, so what I needed was a little arcade machine. I drew this up over the last couple of evenings in CorelDRAW. It stands about 130cm / 5" tall & was laser cut from 3mm acrylic.

Two of the most important projects I've done. These old pedal vehicles were specially done for both my sons by me there dad. The Jeep is from the 1940's-50's and was restored for my Army boy while the boat is for my Navy son. I custom built the boat trailer as well.
Each vehicle has there names on it with other information related to them. As they advance in there trades it will get added to each vehicle so they will be able to look back at it years from now and remember the important parts of there lives.
