The Sony GM lenses are made to handle even higher resolution sensors to come, especially the later ones like the FE16-35mm f2.8 GM.
The bamboo leaves are practically individually distinct as per this shot.
With the push towards 8k and beyond, ever higher mp sensors is not a pipe-dream.
Mirrorless is the way forward for very high mp sensors. Sony A7r2 was the 1st body to enable properly crisp handheld shots at high mp without the penalty of shooting at 1 to 2 stops higher shutter speeds just to counter mirror and shutter shocks. From personal experience, Nikon's D800E was an abject failure at this. I am frankly surprised that there has not been a class action against Nikon for failure of fitness for purpose pertaining to the D800 bodies.
As such I've zero interest in D850 because it's more of the same, its sensor is not much better than that of the older Sony A7r2 and it has the same mirror and shutter issues as D800E. If I shoot sports or anything that requires high shutter speeds, the D850 is fine. For handheld stills the D850 is in fact worse.
Hopefully Nikon's upcoming mirrorless body will be a good one.

After our short mystical trip to the Bamboo Forest, we headed out for the Oi River of Arashiyama. It was not as colorful yet as expected but still I had to take the shot for documentation purposes.
It was so cloudy, I really had a hard time fixing this photo. Adding a little brightness washes up the photo easily. And adding contrast brings most of the detail back to backs. I did local adjustments both in Lightroom and Photoshop to make the photo a little acceptable.
If interested, I have my general workflow on how to create HDR images. Do check it out
One off the bucket list for photography today. So thrilling to go here and take some shots.
Needless to say, it was crowded, but i managed to take shots either without people, or with them in to show scale.
Second visit to this beautiful area of Kyoto. Arrive early to avoid the tourists taking selfies pretending that they are having a good time!
I got to Arashiyama early before anything was really open so that I could walk around the area and enjoy the side streets. As I walked along a canal I saw a small office and on the roof was this group of cats enjoying the morning sun.
The lone worker inside the office came out to see why I was taking a photo of the roof. He was also happy to see this scene and understood why I was so interested in the roof of his office. He gave me a smile and waved as I left to continue my morning walk. I think he probably stayed outside to watch the cats more.
