Arashiyama, Kyoto.

Arashiyama (嵐山) is a pleasant, touristy district in the western outskirts of Kyoto. The area has been a popular destination since the Heian Period (794-1185), when nobles would enjoy its natural setting. Arashiyama is particularly popular during the cherry blossom and fall color seasons.

Arashiyama Bamboo Forest was definitely alot shorter than I expected. haha. When I was on my way I already envisioned it to be real short. just not THAT short. :P looks cool still. and definitely looked better in the morning when theres no crowds. The traffic seems to be endless in the day and to top things off theres also cars driving through the tiny one way street. :D

This was shot at the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, a natural bamboo forest in Arashiyama, Kyoto, Japan. It is a re-edit from a trip many years ago. I wanted to try a different look compared to the sometimes overwhelming greens in many photos. It is said to be one of the most beautiful groves on earth and with the the wind creaking, colliding and twisting the trees and leaves rustling everywhere it is not surprising that it was included in the "100 Soundscapes of Japan". A truly fascinating place - with or without a camera.

The Arashiyama Bamboo Grove is located in the village of Sagano on the west side of Kyoto, Japan. The path through the Grove is short yet immersive, and there’s something almost magical about the light filtering through the tall stands of bamboo. I captured this image during morning hours before the hordes of tourists arrived.

The path that will keep your mind away from any hustle you have been in your life. This place is simply a cleansing walk for anyone seeking for a peaceful relaxation into the nature. Arashiyama Bamboo Cove is one of the most famous destination of Kyoto, Japan for its unifying image of tall bamboo trees along two sides of the path. Make sure you visit this place when you are in Kyoto!
