I was there the day before with my family and all the other tourists. Overcrowded place during daytime as expected. A classic spot in Kyoto. The only way to enjoy the place was of course to come back as early as possible to avoid the traffic. This is what I did the day after. I took many photos and was about to leave when the sun started to shine through the bamboos. Delightful. I could not resist and started over shooting at different exposures. Magic !
Arashiyama (嵐山) is a pleasant, touristy district in the western outskirts of Kyoto. The area has been a popular destination since the Heian Period (794-1185), when nobles would enjoy its natural setting. Arashiyama is particularly popular during the cherry blossom and fall color seasons.
The bamboo forest in Kyoto was, well, very very busy, but despite this we managed to find a quiet area where this picture was taken. Wandering through we were also very lucky that a slight gust came through and the bamboo trees started to hit each other, there was silence surrounded by the hollow sound of the trees clonking together. Magic.

The visit continues in the small tea room where Okochi Denjiro loved to dabble in the traditional tea ceremony.
Today, visitors to the villa sit in that same room, welcomed with a steaming cup of matcha tea and traditional sweets.

Hola a tod@s.
Jejeje. Y ya van dos!!! Paso a paso. :)

The Togetsu-kyo, or Moon-Crossing Bridge, is a famous bridge in the scenic Arashiyama area of Western Kyoto. In the spring, one can see a beautiful array of sakura along the banks of the Katsura River on the left, or above the bridge in the mountains along the Hozu-gawa. The bridge and banks of the river become very crowded this time of year as it is a popular place for hanami festivities.

It was hard to get a good photo of the Bamboo Forest without bus loads of tourists in the way. So I was happy when I managed to catch this one local artist making a sketch, without anyone else in the frame,
