Happy April Fools Day.

Thanks for visiting and well done if you spotted it!
For Macro Mondays theme, "April Fools"--a little chick that survived the Easter egg hunt. Image cropped to under 3" horizontally.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!
April fools….. The #MacroMondays theme for 4/1 is April fools… silly, funny, punny. And I had a bit of a tough time figuring out how to do that in macro. Then I started thinking like the kids in my classes before I retired- being playful with language!! I think I’ll have three but I’ll need to stage the other two… I’ll put up the size verification in a bit.
….giggling……💙 HMM 💙
HMM....... the macromonday theme for today 4/1 is "april fools". this is one of 3 possibilities ~grin~
this portion of the crayon is just under 3 inches

While out taking pictures of Daffodils the other day I came across a strange species of flower. I can only guess that these are Yellow Polyester or as the title states Polyesteri flavum. Alternatly they may be Xanthós polusesterós. I'll let that up to the botanists here on Flickr to sort out. The petals span about 58mm. HMM! Thank you all for any views, faves and comments.
A couple of warm days and it's blooming everywhere. Or it could all be a trick and snow again next week.
Just a day ago I walked through this cemetery in shirtsleeves on a quintessential early spring day, sunny, blue sky and temperature in the low 70s. But that was then. A cold front swept over the village overnight and kicked up lake effect snow off of Lake Erie. Just light snow at first. But I watched an ominous darkening on the Doppler radar this morning. I've actually been awaiting a moment like this for over a year now. Heavy snow moving in during daylight hours to the extent that the flakes could be captured in mid-air. For this to work I needed an air temp at or above freezing to ensure large, fluffy flakes. The planets finally aligned for me this morning. I headed into the cemetery just as the snow arrived. There was already a light ground cover from the overnight snow. The sky literally darkened around me as falling snow blotted the sun. It was breathtaking just how quickly the sky and landscape transformed. I found myself in this space, hands freezing, wind howling, and the review screen obscured by water droplets. I just pointed the camera blindly, set the flash, and pressed the shutter. Sometimes you just have to trust fate. This is the resulting image. Absolutely every bit of what I had hoped for. The snowflakes reflect the flash creating an orb-like effect. It's a glimmering, magical effect juxtaposed against the stunningly lifeless surroundings. I don't know why but I absolutely love the view of distant gravestones dotting the background. I suppose it just adds more depth, but my feelings go beyond that. Has to do with the photo having a sense of place I guess.
Postscript: I had no sooner posted this image when the sun returned, beaming down brighter than ever. Only traces of this snow remain; melted away in just minutes as it it never happened. Further motivation for quick response to changing weather conditions. There was just a short metaphorical window of opportunity to get this shot. Glad I didn't waste it watching out my actual window.

Some 1st of April fun with a red hot (well, not that hot) chili pepper and a so-called Lady finger banana. These smallest "dessert" bananas are also known as fig bananas, sugar bananas, or date bananas due to their sweet, complex, and delicious taste. To complete the confusion, in German, these finger-long, thin-skinned fruits are also known as "apple bananas" or "baby bananas". And it gets particularly interesting when taking into account that, in German, bananas once were referred to as "Paradiesfeigen" ("paradise figs") which brings us back to the "fig-" or, even more fitting, "apple" bananas. Speaking of going bananas while doing the banana research for this theme...
The chili pepper is one of the easily accessible, run-of-the-mill, long red peppers of medium heat that are sometimes referred to as Jalapeños but technically aren't. After peeling (and eating) the banana, I cut off a bit of the banana's stem and carefully placed the chili pepper inside of the skin so that what you see of the "forbidden fruit" inside the frame wasn't any longer than 6,5 cm/2,55 inches.
The image is a focus stack made of 15 images. The in-camera stacked JPG looked good already but combining the Raw files in Helicon Focus yielded an even better result with method B, radius 8, smoothing 1.
P.S. In German, we say "April, April" after having fooled someone on the 1st of April ;)
HMM, Everyone, and don't let yourself get fooled ;)
April Fools on You!! It's not really just a raspberry float, now is it?
Late afternoon in the garden. It is a warm day and I am enjoying a float made with frozen raspberries and blackberries in pure seltzer water.

A carrot LEGO figure holding a fried egg was the most suitable object to photograph for Easter Monday April's Fool Day.
Happy Easter Macro Monday!
Not used these old printing blocks for a while and never thought to make vintage look new, if that makes sense.

Despite it being a Saturday, no-one stirs in the houses on Marine Parade, after all they'll see and hear this many times per day - well, unless the seawall happens to get washed away that is.

Laurel and Hardy of the snail world, for the Macro Mondays theme 'April Fools'.
Leaving the safety of the fruit bowl resulted in a PEAR-ilous adventure for the two little snails.

Feels like Nature is playing a belated April Fools joke on us! Both yesterday & today we've been getting terrible, winter-like weather with rain, heavy winds & snow! Ours had melted weeks ago, yikes!

Delamar is a daytrip from Las Vegas. I have explored the old town many times and studied documents and old photos - there is still much mystery.
