Just a quick interruption on my little ice series. I was so excited to get this one I could not wait to post. Range Maps show just a dot on my home town, yet I have never seen one before/
April Fools...yeah, I guess I won't fool too many people. Because the Bald Eagle was captured in such harsh light, I had a tough time trying to emulate the light of the House Sparrow, but I had so little Eagle images to choose from. But of course it is all in fun anyways. Have a great month everyone. Now that March is over, Spring should be on it's way shortly.
Contribution to MM challenge for 1/4/19, theme "April Fools"
This is something that amazed me since I first started looking at photography (though my ability isn't reflected in how long ago that was!) There always seemed to be a picture of an apple on fire and it's taken me this long to get round to trying it for myself. After all, how hard can it be in these days of digital compared to all those attempts with film.
Well..... Not as easy as I thought it would be. It took ages to find the right method to get the apple to actually catch light. I tried everything from lighter fluid to paraffin stopping short of petrol. Then there was the time I had to soak the stalk(?) to get it to hold the flame. But perseverance got me there in the end late last night. Bonus was the starry sky outside but the breeze made things tricky too.
Anyway I hope you all have a lovely day. I hear there's a Brexit deal all sorted out and signed by all parties and EU nations.

"Blup... Blup" s'est évadé de mon aquarium et je n'ai réussi à le retrouver qu'aujourd'hui !!!
Ce poisson existe réellement, certes il n'est pas tout à fait identique mais j'ai trouvé amusant de le travestir un peu avec divers outils en post traitements.

I had the great honour of being allowed to take images of this endangered species of worm-snails. Those snails have obviously some severe sweet tooth as they love to wallow around in sugar and to ride on a "sugar high" ; ))

Chuck played a bit of an April fools joke on me by leading me to believe the massive doorway to his/her burrow was that of a badger.
With its steam-heating boiler working well, Peak no. 46003 stands beneath the much-missed signal gantry at Exeter St David's on a cool April morning after arriving from Bristol Temple Meads with an unidentified train. While it consists of eight items of rolling stock, in fact five of them are parcels vans of one sort or another, with the remaining three being Mark 1 passenger carriages.
Perhaps in memory of days chasing the Westerns (which had come to an end the previous year) I'd spent the night on Bristol Temple Meads with the tripod and camera - 46003 was snapped there beside what was the then new order, a High Speed Train, before she brought me down as far as Exeter.
I eventually went on to Dawlish and the cliff path just to the west of the station before tiredness took hold and I headed back home to Nottingham.
Happily I'm still finding a few slides that process reasonably well using more contemporary software packages. Happily too, this shot was taken before the ornate facade above the canopy was boarded over and hidden from public view.

April fools….. The #MacroMondays theme for 4/1 is April fools… silly, funny, punny. And I had a bit of a tough time figuring out how to do that in macro. Then I started thinking like the kids in my classes before I retired- being playful with language!! I think I’ll have three but I’ll need to stage the other two… I’ll put up the size verification in a bit.

Mag-Crow (sometimes called Hooded or Scotch Crow) is a species that attracts an enormous amount of attention on the rare occasions they appear in eastern England and yet are seemingly unnoticed north of the border into Scotland
Mag-Crows belong to the genus Cravendaw - which includes other corvids such as Crow, Raven and Jackdaw. Like other cravendaws the Mag-Crow is an omnivorous and an opportunistic forager and feeder. This one agreed to be photographed in exchange for a small quantity of pork-pie while we waited to board a ferry on The Isle of Mull 😉

Today is a red day at Color My World Daily and the theme at Macro Mondays is April fools. In my opinion a fish must be part of an April fools picture on this Photostream. That is why, I decided to go with Red Lady and her incredible April fools catch . A fish sooooo big that it was bigger than the boat… and even bigger than Red Lady herself. Of course, this enormous April fools fish was catch using a retractable harpoon that Red Lady always has in her purse… it is usually next to a bottle of Sherry she likes to carry with her on her fishing trips or any other trip as well… To catch a fish that big is quite an achievement… and of course sometimes the fish gets bigger and bigger each time the story is told. This way the fish might end up being quite large , but in this case we have a picture to prove it !! And I hope this picture will fool you in believing everything in my narrative ;-) !
