I painted this 4 x 1.5 m canvas (great rough linen material!!) for an art festival/competition in France in 2004. The given topic was 'vacation' ... I guess you can tell what my approach to it was.
The canvas was hung across the main street with all the other submissions during the summer '04.
To my surprise I won the jury price.

BR Class 14 D9520 on the final approach to Arley. D9520 completed by Swindon Works on 11th November 1964. It was the 21st of the 56 strong class 14's. The loco was preserved in 1981 and was based initially on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Since then it has had many other homes but is now permanently based on the Nene Valley Railway.
The Victory Column originally stood in Königsplatz (now Platz der Republik), at the end of the Siegesallee, in a position directly behind the Soviet War Memorial near the Riechstag. As part of the preparation of the monumental plans to redesign Berlin into Welthauptstadt Germania, in 1939, the Nazis relocated the column to its present site at the Großer Stern a large junction on the axis that leads from the former Berliner Stadtschloß through the Brandenburg Gate to the western parts of the city. At the same time, the column was heightened by another 24‘ 6″, giving it its present height of 219‘ 6″ (Giving space to commemorate a further victory, presumably.). The monument survived the Second World War without much damage. The relocation of the monument probably saved it from destruction, as its old site – in front of the Reichstag was destroyed by American air raids in 1945. Without a Anglo-American veto, the French would have dynamited the monument after the War.
Until 1st January, 1969, the public transports authorities in East and West Berlin were both known as The Berliner Vekehrsbetriebe (BVG). On that date the East Berlin authority became the BVG in East Berlin changed its name to VEB Kombinat Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe and or the BVB,
There style of vehicle was very different on the two sides of the Wall, but both authorities had the same cream livery colour.
Although not really a difficult approach, there's something pretty dramatic about descending below a tree line in order to make a landing. The strip itself is very bumpy with overgrown grass, rocks and large ruts in it. Can make keeping the aircraft in a straight line a little tricky.
With Met No.1 on the front and with Sarah Siddons and the Prarie Tank L150 on the back the Heritage Train approaches Eastcote Underground Station having left Ruislip Depot.
A seagull approaches my youngest son to grab the Cheeto he's offering. :)

Alamo is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Lincoln County, Nevada, United States, about 90 miles (140 km) north of Las Vegas. Its elevation is 3,449 feet (1,051 m). As of the 2010 census it had a population of 1,080. Founded in 1901, Alamo is named after the Spanish word for "poplar" due to the presence of that type of tree.
Alamo lies in the Pahranagat Valley. Its economy is dependent primarily upon ranching. The closest attraction is the Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge.

Approaching the final stop at the Frenchgate Interchange is First 33071.

A Manhattan-bound N Train runs against the usual current of traffic, approaching the upper level of Queensboro Plaza station. Inbound N, Q and 7 trains typically stop on the lower level of this elevated station. Track maintenance is responsible for this temporary adjustment.
Milwaukee Streetcar ("The Hop") car 05 approaches the Cathedral Square stop, outbound for Burns Commons. This was just about an hour after the opening-day celebrations at Cathedral Square Park had finished up, and crowds were packing the streetcars and just about every stop along the line. There is no overhead wire here- like Detroit's Q-Line, The Hop's Brookville-built streetcars run off-wire for part of their route, using battery power.

On a dull 10th July 1986 37417 Highland Region approaches Inverness with 2H62, the midday Wick to Inverness service.
N9004U is seen on short final to runway 14R at O'Hare in 1989. My second jet flight ever was on a UAL 737-222, and have always like these little guys.
We're taking a new approach to how we perform critical inspection and maintenance of subway components that are necessary to providing reliable service -- FASTRACK. The third implementation of FASTRACK is taking place on the Sixth Avenue B/D/F/M Line from 57 Street to W 4 Street from Feb. 27 to March 2, 2012. Because a section of the subway is closed to trains for seven consecutive hours, FASTRACK is a safer and more efficient way to maintain and clean New York City's sprawling subway — a system that never closes.
With no trains running along Sixth Avenue, 800 MTA employees are able to inspect signals, replace rails and cross ties, scrape track floors, clean stations and paint areas that are not reachable during normal train operation. Workers also took the opportunity to clean lighting fixtures, change bulbs and repair platform edges while performing high-intensity station cleaning.
