“Clown” is a piece of digital art created using three iterations of the Double Exposure filter in Nik Analog Efex Pro. It was just a “muck around” image I used to create diagrams/screenshots for the third and final in a series of articles I’m writing on “Multiple Exposures in Photoshop” for the Artists Down Under magazine, but after some applications of textures and some colour grading I liked it enough to post. The original photo is from Midjourney. The three articles will be in the May, June and July issues of the magazine.
We left Melbourne last night for a couple of weeks touring around Tasmania, I will try to stay up to date on Flickr but please accept my apologies if I’m a bit slower than usual, and there’s perhaps a few less comments.

The same procedure every year. Two applications are required to fly a drone in Thailand. A kind of driving licence or personal licence from the CAAT and a specific drone licence from the NBTC. Both applications require a lot of paperwork, forms have to be filled out and uploaded, photos with serial numbers, entry documents, an insurance confirmation, a residence address. If all goes well, the application to the CAAT has already been approved before the trip and so the application can be submitted to the NBTC with the entry stamp on the day of arrival. Ideally, processing will take less than half a day and you will then be sent a transfer order. The fee is 224 baht including bank charges. In the end, you have two certificates that allow you to fly a drone legally. I wouldn't do it without the certificates, because if the worst comes to the worst, you are covered, especially in the event of an accident.

Bokeh weird and wonderful!
The bokeh is not the result of some texture programme in Photoshop or the like, but primarily the result of the optics used, "enhanced" in processing with the clarity control, otherwise known as a detail extractor.
Initial processing in the RAW-converter built into the Pentax K-1, along with the application of "digital filters". Further work on colour intensification, shading and vignetting in SilkyPix Developer Studio Pro 9.
Do view large and zoom in! It's fun!

Young artist Ariya McDonald is putting the finishing touches on a traffic light control box in Sandgate, Brisbane. I hadn't noticed this box previously, which Ariya tells me did not have a mural on it. There are very few unpainted ones around Brisbane now.
Apparently after your application to paint is accepted by the Brisbane City Council, it gives the artist a kit of gear including paint to do the work within two weeks. Ariya, who gave me permission to take her photo is a student at the local Sandgate District High School, which she pays tribute to on the side of the box. She has included books for learning and an Australian White Ibis which are prolific locally as the needed links to the area, a fundamental requirement for permission to paint.
Sunday is usually my flickr day off but we discovered Ariya working away as we went to the chemist today.

Metaverse is an online, 3D virtual space concept that connects users in all aspects of their lives. It would connect several platforms, similar to the Internet and containing different websites accessible through a single browser.
The concept was developed in the science fiction novel Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. However, if the idea of a metaverse was once fiction, today it looks like it could become a reality.
The metaverse will be animated by augmented reality, with each user controlling a character or avatar. For example, you can host a mixed reality meeting with an Oculus VR headset in your virtual office, finish your work and relax in a blockchain game, then manage your cryptocurrency portfolio and finances, all inside the metaverse. .
You can already see some aspects of metaverse in existing virtual video game worlds. Games like Second Life and Fortnite or tools for socializing at work like Gather.town bring together multiple elements of our lives in online worlds. Although these apps are not the metaverse, they are somewhat similar. The metaverse does not yet exist.
In addition to supporting gaming or social networks, the metaverse will combine economies, digital identity, decentralized governance and other applications. Even today, the creation and possession by users of valuable objects and currencies contribute to the development of a single and united metaverse. All of these features give blockchain the potential to power this future technology.

The recently submitted planning application to demolish the ex-London & Birmingham Railway workshops and 'develop' the land for residential housing and a supermarket has brought the oldest continuously operated railway works in the world into focus. During arguably happier times, a far from presentable BR Inter City APT (370005 with driving car 48105 leading) was on display to the visiting public at the works on 17th August 1985. Shortly after this the handful of APT-Ps in service were withdrawn and quietly scrapped without any publicity from 1986.
