A lone fisherman probes the waters of North Gap Lake for signs of piscine life, Snowy Range, Medicine Bow Mountains, Wyoming. All around him fish surface and feed, and he appears unable to divine what might interest them. Fishing can be quite a humbling enterprise...
Although the days begin to grow longer again, I imagine the inhabitants of the lake are currently sealed from sight beneath a cap of lake ice and will be for some time to come. Closer to home, the firewood shed is nearly complete (all but the metal roof sheathing), family members begin arriving tomorrow, and the full moon will be setting at sunrise in the morning hours.
In the spirit of the season, a friend and neighbor will be throwing a Chrismatzo Ball tomorrow evening. All signs point toward merry making! I hope the same holds true over the next weeks for all the fine people I've met on Flickr. Cheers!
Waiting for, giving some, who knows because the moment before is just thrilling. The replies could be such a wide array of emotions. Happy texts, sad texts, decision making texts, forgiving texts.. and your whole universe surrounds those tiny little letters, with hope and excitement for a better moment.

There was a power outage over the weekend at Algonquin Park's Lake Opeongo outfitter station. Consequently, not many people were around at sunset - only the sounds of a generator and a few kids laughing at each other's dockside fishing antics. Eventually the generator fell silent and the kids left - leaving us the last ones out. A solitary loon called out but there was no answer.
So after many wishes to make a q&a here it is. You can ask everything I will answer.

There is always the question why
And there is always life,

well doesn't this look familiar?

Can you guess the movie?:
When you're young, everything feels like the end of the world.
But it's not.
It's just the beginning.
You might have to meet a few jerks,
but one day,
you're gonna meet a boy
who treats you the way you deserve to be treated.
Like the sun rises and sets with you.
Ok, so the real reason I uploaded this is because i was tagged by sara.kross. She's amazing! Check out her stream! I love all her photos so much :)
I know I did this before, but I've changed a lot since then. I thought I'd be a little more serious with this one and answer some questions i've gotten in my flickrmail. Maybe even ask you a few...hmmm?
1. I got the question "why don't you upload more pictures of yourself?" The answer to that is actually really simple. It's because I don't have a remote and I get tired of the ten second dash and the inability for my camera to focus is i'm not standing there the whole time. But hopefully, Christmas will be the time to fix that problem...
2. Someone also asked me where I got the models. My models are actually just friends from school. I live in an area where it seems like everyone is super skinny and gorgeous so it's not hard to find someone who looks like one, but i really love taking photos of girls that don't have that perfect body. I just wish that people would find a photo of someone they considered unattractive to be just as interesting as the ones of someone they do.
3. Another question was do you want to do this professionally. Um...i don't know yet...I know I probably wouldn't do it full time, even though I would like too. But my mom doesn't particularly approve of being a photographer, so i think i really want to be a third or fourth grade teacher and maybe take pictures during the summer?
Here come the facts and questions for you...
4. I'm adopted. Now tell me an interesting fact about you.
5. I greatly enjoy photography because the view from my side of the lens is only my own and no one else can see through it unless I allow them to through the photograph. What's your favorite part about photography?
6. I love love love getting together with other photographers and attempting to see their visions. I would love to do more of this (anyone live around here?). Do you prefer to work by yourself or with someone? Not necessarily in photography, just in general.
7. Music is a good escape for me. I love the sound of acoustics. In fact, I play/played the acoustic guitar. Not so much anymore, but I still play the piano quite often. Who/what's your favorite type of music, artist, etc.
8. Wow this is long. When I was reading through it I know I only read the bold parts. Are you only reading the parts that are bolded?
9. For Christmas, I would like a remote, money, a new journal for my overflowing quote book, a new living translation bible, and an air freshener for my car. It smells like something died in the back seat. Even if something did, i wouldn't notice because my car is so messy. For example, in my trunk, there is a cot, a guitar, a ton of fake flowers, lots of schoolwork, glitter, an easter basket, a basketball, costume jewelry, a fiddler on the roof record, a cowboy hat, lots and lots of clothes, etc. Seriously, there is a LOT of stuff in my car. So I have two questions...What do you want for Christmas? and What's weird in your car?
10. I enjoy solitude almost more than I enjoy being with people. I'm usually happier with people, but it doesn't give me time to think. Would you rather be alone in this world or constantly surrounded by people?

Busy day... making the last arrangements, packing... Almost time to go back to Spain...
It was very cold and many buses were canceled due to the snow storm, but the Peace March on the Pentagon was very well attended, nevertheless. Starting in the Lincoln Memorial, ending with a rally at the Pentagon's parking lot. The march meant many things to many people: bring the troops home, remove certain government officials, respect international laws, search for peaceful solutions to international and religious conflicts, etc. Some participants donned costumes, most carried signs prepared by organizers or home made. The most striking was probably a man pulling a flag wrapped coffin... with boots, dog tag and a picture of a fallen soldier. An admittedly smaller group of anti-protesters lined the street demonstrating that not all think alike and since we live in democracy, have a right to ...
Sorry for the super late description everyone. In answer to all these notes: No, the bokeh is not candles or fire, but actually it is the city lights backed up onto a mountain. ;)

It was late. Any other night, I would've been in bed. But sometimes you have to say "Screw the bank I work for" and set responsibility and routine and sleep aside... and follow that part of you that needs to be fed.
So there I was... late at night... driving my truck... bumping and jarring along pot-holed side streets. I followed my nose, my heart, my hunger to the places where there are no artificial lights... where strange things crash and rustle in the bush... and the smell of the ocean is heavy and warm and the wind is just strong enough to keep the clouds moving, and to keep the mosquitoes off my exposed arms.
At times I was terrified. Alone. Just me and the trees and the ocean and my camera and the moon. But not even fear can override the sheer joy... the pure exhilaration... of shooting at night.
This morning I am groggy. Hung over in the aftermath of so much beauty, and stillness, and wildness.
Work will be a challenge. I'll have to just dig in and not come out till it's done. Otherwise, I'll end up dreaming. And I did enough of that last night.
Answer: I took off the lens of my digital camera and took a cell phone photo of the camera's sensor. The reason? Needed to show a problem/smudge on the sensor to a camera group.
