Fabulous mural on the The Wellington Theosophical Society building.

How can you capture the light mood in an old deciduous forest aut autumn time? I asked myself this question, and I found many answers. This is one of them.

Pretty daisy at the water tower with dash of filter for a different look. Quite like the outcome of this one.

Not having visited the CN Champaign Sub in some time, I was beginning to wonder if IC SD70s were still a "thing" on A408s between Kirk Yard in Gary, IN and Centralia, IL. The answer runs south through Humbolt, IL behind IC #1024 and 1027, albeit a little later in the day than I'm used to seeing. Whereas A408s have typically departed Champaign well before sunrise, this one is obviously many hours behind that schedule, much to my benefit.

CN's heritage plan rolls on.

The reason for our recent trip to Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee…the Western Cottonmouth. Reelfoot is pretty famous in our part of the world for three main reasons: Amazing fishing (winter and spring only…it sucks in August), and the largest concentration of Bald eagles and cottonmouths in the Eastern USA.

I have been wanting to go back to Reelfoot to photograph the cottonmouths for many years now. This week my brother Gus and I made the 9-hour roundtrip drive and were blessed with two separate encounters. In this shot, we fired up the trolling motor and cruised alongside this beautiful adult viper.

I guess one's answered prayer can be another’s nightmare.

please no graphics in your comments. if it's from a group i've posted in choose the little one - comment with only graphics will be deleted. thanks

I believe this is a Two-barred Warbler, but living in North America I am not very familiar with the Phylloscopidae. I put this to the Bird Identification Help Group here on Flickr to see if I am right, but don’t yet have a conclusive answer.

The sighting was on the Ang Ka nature trail near the highest point of Doi Inthanon National Park in northern Thailand, in late January.

May I say a big thank you to all those who have faved and commented on my work, it is all very much appreciated. I do not answer each comment as the time consumed is so great trying to do so. Regards to all, Roy.

Many of life's difficult questions are more easily answered here - with waves, a camera, a tripod, and self.

Playing around with some HDR and sans shadow. Thanks to everyone who played along yesterday. The answer is below.

Fun Facts: Grand Teton National Park was created on February 29, 1929 and greatly expanded in 1950 due to the efforts of John D. Rockefeller, who purchased vast tracts of land and then donated over 30,000 acres to the U.S. Government.

If we truly knew all the answers in advance as to the meaning of life and the nature of God and the destiny of our souls, our belief would not be a leap of faith and it would not be a courageous act of humanity; it would just be... a prudent insurance policy.”

In a burst of sunlight that lasted less than a minute, G539, BL33 and G520 lead 7901V out of Irymple at 1705 on Tuesday the 29th of August 2023. Barely 20 seconds before this train came into view, the sun came out and less than 10 seconds after the locos passed me, the sun disappeared behind the clouds, never to be seen again on this day. I have been thinking about my brother so much lately. We lost him a year and a half ago to an accidental overdose He went to bed and never woke up. My poor dad found him, but it was already too late. He was only 24 and a wonderful person. This song just fits how much I feel. I miss him so much!
