This year, the Korean Animation Day proceeded with two very special Korean animations, Bolts & Blip and Pororo.
Pororo is one of the most popular children's TV animation series in South Korea.
Both films were enjoyed by British and Korean-British children and their parents. The children took photos with the cut-out of Pororo after the screening at Odeon Covent Garden.
Fantasia blue wizard hat that Mickey Mouse wore in the film Fantasia is the landmark of Animation Celebration. Peter Pan figures swirl around the building. The building pays homage to Disney's most popular cartoons.

Film review for Chinman and friends
The film is a timeless commentary on the topsy-turvy and happenstance direction of contemporary relationships and speaks of the quandary modern man faces in feigning acquaintance under the guise of paranoia, with a lighthearted nod to those few who are plainly made for one another. The performances of the flightless birds subtly portrayed a very twisted and complex plot, and leaves the viewer with the questioning natural form, wondering if a lower half of the bodyectomy really is the solution to the most haunting question of our time; am I shaped like my true self? Writer/Director, Leif Valin once again delivers a poignant message using the Freak archetype struck by the mysteries of the minimal and childlike characteristics of this post-postmodern era. But the question remains, are these cyborgesque alterations of natural form a result accident, congenital malformation, or elective surgery?

Here is quite a brilliant young animation student doing it the hard way with paper and pencil. This is also arguably the right way to learn the deep, subtle, and complex art of being a 'pencil actor'- which also necessarily means being a storyteller.
People tend to think of animation as a means of giving drawings the illusion of motion but it is really the art of giving drawings the 'illusion of life'. To understand this is to also understand why the art is best learned hands-on with a tactile instrument such as a pencil.
Imagine beginning with graphite scraped across a wood product and ending with a hardened adult human publicly weeping when watching little Dumbo the Elephant talk to his mama who has been falsely condemned and is chained to a stake. That is high art and why I contend that animators such as Chuck Jones and the Disney Studio of the Golden Age will be assessed as co-equal to the greatest of writers, painters, and composers of the past century and will be treasured as amongst the great cultural achievements of our civilization in centuries to come.

The first animation I did together with Issey. She helped sculpt the head, and directed the action (snot eating, hair coming to life, swallowing the man). StopMotion Recorder app on iPhone 4, about 45 mins work. Pity I forgot to remove the screwdriver.
