Low light is a fav of mine, probably because it is often something which is a solo sport, so to speak. It's great to be able to see, as Oscar Wilde once put it, the dawn before everyone else. A film lens excellent for this somewhat eclectic purpose is the Canon 50mm f0.95, which allows capture in very dark environments. It's heavy glass but absolutely worth it in the times when low light flexibility is in the mind's eye, but encountering other situations can be caught as well. My flickr friends continue to show the way, on how different perspectives can be so valuable in finding a voice.
After numerous one ounce glass shots of dubious mixtures, I find myself as pictured as more of an observer than a true participant. What in the name of all that is good, am I doing here in this moment?
Perhaps it was fate; witness the keys I had to remove from a young man that assured me in an agitated slur that he was absolutely f**king fine while I held him steady. Perhaps it was to allow an individual to exercise her fingers remotely texting me promises of undying love alternating with assertions of what an incredible ass I am.
Geez. Perhaps my presence was just for a few pictures.
At any rate, this year has the promise of some very interesting choices. I think I have debunked Newton’s Third Law as applied to humans; my decisions so far have elicited reactions not quite what I have expected.
So…this year I have resolved to enjoy the unexpected as a gift when decisions must be made.
