In 2022, I returned to Colombia. The main purpose of this trip was to explore the Amazonian rainforest areas near Leticia and then on the Rio Negro. In 2007 I was in the Leticia area on a volunteering project and the 2022 trip gave me the chance to see more of the area.
As these are border areas, with the rivers travelled actually being the borders, I also visited / transitted through Brazil, Peru and Venezuela. I will create one master set / album for the entire six week trip, plus separate country albums to help viewers who are interested only in a specific country.
I also spent time in Bogota and in the Boyaca region. Overall intinerary: London - Leticia - Bogota - Villavincenzio - Rio Negro - Puerto Inirida - Bogota (incl Nemocon) - Villa de Leyva - Tunja - Bogota - London.

I loved how the Amazon is like a mirror, The Rio Negro Tributary is even more like a mirror of the sky due to the dark black water due to decaying vegetation coming out of the jungle.
I cant wait to go back.
Amazon jungle, Peru. The bullet ant (Praponera Clavata) has a powerful sting that can last for 24 hours and the pain is likened to 'being shot with a bullet'. The Satere-Mawe people of Brazil use intentional bullet ant stings as part of their initiation rites to become a warrior. The ants are woven into a glove made of leaves, stingers facing inward. A boy slips the glove onto his hand with the goal of this initiation rite being to keep the glove on for a full 10 minutes.
Amazon Kindle 2, the 2nd version of Amazon's ebook reader.
I couldn't wait to get my Kindle and excitedly took pictures of the unwrapping. I'd have gotten a picture of the USP man, had I heard him - my camera was at the door and ready.. but he snuck in before I knew it.

Amazon is building a 3 bubble biosphere in Seattle. They are going to be impressive structures although they are much smaller than Biosphere 2 which I visited the previous week.
