Riding on the Amazon River. This photo was published in a catalog for Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Advertising 'Biology of the Amazon.'
My Amazon page as of 2:00 p.m. (MTN) on Sunday January 31, 2010. Note that the book is STILL available. Evidently it takes a lot longer to cancel a single CreateSpace (Amazon) published book than the entire MacMillian catalog.

I'm off on the second leg of my photo tour with my client Marty. Marty and I shot a sunrise at Vista House and the major waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge. Marty has never been to the gorge and was blown away by it. He is shooting stereo views and so has a rig set up with two cameras. Quite the deal.
We'll be shooting Mount Hood today, starting with a sunrise at Trillium.
Have a great day and I will hope to get back to checking out your my contacts photos soon.
Most of the nutrients in the Amazon are trapped in its biomass — so there's no need to invest in deep roots.

I loved how the Amazon is like a mirror, The Rio Negro Tributary is even more like a mirror of the sky due to the dark black water due to decaying vegetation coming out of the jungle.
I cant wait to go back.

Amazon is building a 3 bubble biosphere in Seattle. They are going to be impressive structures although they are much smaller than Biosphere 2 which I visited the previous week.

From Leticia (Colombia) I travelled upriver on the Amazon and docked on the Peruvian side of the river from where I travelled in a canoe along a channel to Marasha nature reserve, staying on the lake / lagoon Marasha. We took canoes out looking for wildlife in the afternoon, evening and early morning.
---
In 2022, I returned to Colombia. The main purpose of this trip was to explore the Amazonian rainforest areas near Leticia and then on the Rio Negro. In 2007 I was in the Leticia area on a volunteering project and the 2022 trip gave me the chance to see more of the area.
As these are border areas, with the rivers travelled actually being the borders, I also visited / transitted through Brazil, Peru and Venezuela. I will create one master set / album for the entire six week trip, plus separate country albums to help viewers who are interested only in a specific country.
I also spent time in Bogota and in the Boyaca region. Overall intinerary: London - Leticia - Bogota - Villavincenzio - Rio Negro - Puerto Inirida - Bogota (incl Nemocon) - Villa de Leyva - Tunja - Bogota - London.
