Eucalypt trees still contain splashes of colour on their trucks that look rather exposed during the freezing cold winter in the higher parts of the Australian Alps - Mount Baw Baw, Victoria - approximately 150 kms from Melbourne.
An early June morning in the Caribou Mountains brought some fantastic alpine glow! 2 years ago I watched the sun set from on that mountain.
I shot this from the McBride town site @ 280mm on Canon 50D.
The first Alpine, first introduced in 1955, based on the Renault 4CV.

365: The 2014 Edition (222/365). So much travel in August has put me behind on this challenge. This photo was from a daylong mountain bike ride all above 11,000' in the San Juan Mountains.
Alpine Presbyterian Church in Menlo, Georgia. Built in 1837, the physical characteristics of the church remain much as they were in the 19th century. The church was constructed with two front doors, and the men and women would enter separately and sit on opposite sides. A loft was built just above the entrance way for the slaves who attended service.
Not sure if this is King's Crown(Rhodiola integrifolia) or Queen's Crown(Rhodiola rhodantha) but it sure is beautiful this time of year.
