This picture shows part of the moon's terminator (shadow-line) at first quarter (seven days after new moon). The dark slash near the top of the picture is the Alpine Valley (Vallis Alpes), in the Lunar Alps. The two mountain ranges in the center are the Caucasus (upper right) and the Apennines (lower left). The large "sea" at lower right is Mare Serenitatis (Sea of Serenity). The craters Aristillus and Autolycus are dramatically lit just above center with their floors in deep shadow and their west rims just catching the light of the rising sun.

Alpine 110, Place de la Concorde, Paris, September 16, 2019
Introduced in 2017, Alpine A110 harkens back to the original Alpine A110 manufactured in the 1960s and 1970s. The Alpine marque was thus relaunched after several years of absence in the market.
An Alpine chough outside at the Jungfraujoch.
The station at the Jungfraujoch offers jaw-dropping views and experiences throughout, from staring out over the seemingly endless expanse of the Aletsch Glacier to walking out on the snow beneath the gigantic Swiss Alps.
The ‘Top of Europe’ is home to an ice palace beneath the rock of the mountain, the Sphinx Terrace – at a height of 3,571m – where the decks of the research station offer unparalleled views, and the chance to step outside and walk among the grandeur.
Food served in the restaurant is surprisingly high quality, though it is the views you soak up along with the cuisine which truly make the experience.
From outside, you can appreciate the work which went in to build the station in the saddle of the mountain, with parts of the complex jutting out from beneath the snow or rising higher still into the sky.
The Sphinx Observatory at the top of the complex of buildings was built between 1936 and 1937 and serves as both a weather and astronomical research station to this day, when it operates as one of the world’s foremost environmental research sites.
This picturesque area features mountain landscapes,
wildflower displays, streams and snowfields. Historic
mining areas are found throughout the Silverton
area, including the Animas Forks townsite and
Sound Democrat Mine. During the summer months,
the area features four-wheel trails and tours, which
make it easy to explore the Alpine Loop Backcountry
Byway. The winter season offers a variety of winter
sports including skiing at the expert-level, 1,300-acre
Silverton Ski Area and adjacent 13,000-acre permitted
heli-skiing area. In addition to three fourteeners and
more than a dozen alpine peaks, the Alpine Triangle
features spectacular landscapes, winding streams
and picturesque wildflower displays. Not only does
this area cater to those who love wildlife and nature
viewing, the area also offers trails designated for
OHVs and other types of motorized recreation.
