Boat PE1043,
Sunset captured at Mudeford Quay earlier this year during the first lockdown on one of our daily walks allowed at the time and no tripod.
Still waters with some colourful light.
What a thrill it was to float, wade, and cast to big Brown and Rainbow Trout in this beautiful river. There were a lot of fish in the river at this time, so the catching was easy.

Gannets are seabirds comprising the genus Morus, in the family Sulidae, closely related to boobies. "Gannet" is derived from Old English ganot, ultimately from the same Old Germanic root as "gander".[1] Morus is derived from Ancient Greek moros, "foolish", due to the lack of fear shown by breeding gannets and boobies, allowing them to be easily killed

Don't let the sun go down on me
Although I search myself, it's always someone else I see
I'd just allow a fragment of your life to wander free
But losing everything is like the sun going down on me
A song with a very different meaning for me right now.

Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful mothers around the world! Have a great weekend everyone!
When you enter the Dutch national park The Veluwezoom, the sings kindly ask you to keep your distance from the animals, that are allowed to roam freely. But what if the horses doesn’t keep their distance to you! I was photographing a tree, when I suddenly noticed an impressive horse behind the bushes. I scared a bit, and saw even more horses appear through the fog and they came really close. They didn’t seem to bother at all about my presence, and eventually I decided to just go on with what I already was doing, make photographs! This little one kept coming closer and this gave me the opportunity to make this shot at 40mm. I was the only one around at the time, and felt a bit relieved when the horses finally moved on. But I have to admit that I also felt blessed by this almost magical encounter, the literally came out of nowhere, and for that moment where I almost felt a connection with the animals and the environment. I think I’ve said this before, but through photography I had many experiences which I normally would have missed. It really lets me live in the moment and that’s only one of the major benefits. Well, who am I speaking to? You already know of course!
Thanks for having a look! All faves and comments are highly appreciated!

I won't be on Flickr much this week because my daughter is graduating from college, plus numerous other obligations to attend to. Thanks everyone for all the wonderful comments and invitations. Once things calm down around my house I'll try to make it up to you all. I hate missing all your gorgeous photo's. Thanks again and have a great week!
I thought everyone should know that this person has stolen and posted some of my photo's on their site. If you click onto the site you'll see the first pic's are mine!

I have a complaint in to Flickr but thought you all might want to block this person.
The Santa Catalina Arch is one of the distinguishable landmarks in Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala, located on 5th Avenue North. Built in the 17th century, it originally connected the Santa Catalina convent to a school, allowing the cloistered nuns to pass from one building to the other without going out on the street. A clock on top was added in the era of the Central American Federation, in the 1830s.
I allowed myself to borrow a few images from different locations and arranged/assembled those to combine this image.

our trees are bare. strong winds roar through naked branches. i appreciate trees in all seasons. during winter, they teach me about vulnerability, resilience, and courage. there’s no place to hide—no protective leaves—just bare branches. on friday, i found this cracked, beautiful leaf in a nearly frozen puddle. just like the trees, it teaches me to be real and brave; to allow sun to illuminate wounds; to let love in; let people in; let tears and laughter flow.

Yes, we have been evacuated again. This fire is closer to where we live. It was started when SCE shut the power off. Some guy who had not been maintaining his generator, switched it on: it exploded.
We're fine. The cats are fine.
I captured this rare visitor to Michigan last Saturday evening. I had heard a bunch of rumbling while I was at work that one had showed up at the beach in one of our local metro parks. When I got off work, me and my wife went to mass and after words headed over to the park. We located him out on the beach. He allowed me to photograph him without being spooked for a little bit. I spent about 10 min rattling off a bunch of images and then left him alone. Figured he needed some food and rest for the rest of his journey.
He was standing just on shore when this little wave came in and splashed off of him.

The Wren would look to the left and chatter and look to the right and chatter. Letting every living thing know the Carolina Wren is here.
Prime Hook NWR, Delaware.
Photoshop: the background was brighter and the forground darker, so the Wren and branch were masked so that the exposure of both areas could be shifted. And that allowed for some smoothing to be done on the background too.
Cancellations due to COVID19 allowed the opportunity to reserve and stay on short notice at lodges within several National Parks. These lodges (i.e., including Yosemite and Crater Lake) are generally impossible to reserve otherwise. The parks were fairly empty. My wife were walking back with dinner to our room when I noticed this magnificent sight. The falls were the first sight as we walked in and out of our room. The view was always impressive. However, the diminishing light minutes before sunset added a touch of mystery to this natural wonder.
BTW, I wanted to take the opportunity to inform everyone that Flickr is no longer sending notifications to Yahoo mail accounts. I only receive notices regarding promotions by Flickr. As a result, it is impossible to track and reciprocate all Faves. Sorry about that and stay healthy!
Buzzards are large birds with broad rounded wings and a short tail. They are typically brown, often with a light necklace beneath the breast and white undersides to the wings. However, the species’ appearance is highly variable with some birds having far more white feathers than others. A buzzard’s beak is sharp and hooked and it has large feet with sharp talons. It has a wingspan of around 120cm and weighs up to 1kg.
Buzzards are opportunistic predators and can take a wide variety of prey. Small rodents such as voles and mice are commonly eaten, but they can also take prey as large as rabbits or as small as earthworms. They will also scavenge on road kill. This flexible diet allows the buzzard to survive in a variety of habitats.
Minaraiya is the first ozashiki (geisha dinner party) an Minarai is allowed to participate in. The stage of Minarai (Learn by watching) is a short period of time before she becomes a Maiko. Under the watchful eye of her big sister (Oneehan), she will learn how to interact with partons as well as learn Ozashiki Asobi (traditional games). We would be honored to see you in the future! This Pentax model's IR/UV cut filter was weak and allowed enough IR light through with this 720 nm filter with an extended exposure. This result is from a focus stack of 12 images.
These grosbeaks at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, Delaware, have been keeping their distance and not allowing close photos. This bird was the exception however. It was first seen in a tree at some distance, (photo in comment 1 below), but then flew towards the camera and landed very close for feeding near the ground. During this time it turned several times and allowed the side shot shown in comment 2 below.
Laowa 2X Super Macro
These are 3" x 3" Post-It Notes that have been rolled in half and held together with a paper clip. The light source is a large window at the top left. The 3 main circle-top areas are less than 1.5" total width, so the estimated total width is less than 2.5" W. It's fun to turn the paper and adjust the camera to see numerous views of the same subject. Plus, the super macro lens allows me to get very close to the subject, and the depth-of-field is extremely shallow. This lens blurs the background at f/8.0 or less, but unfortunately doesn't record the depth-of-field in the EXIF data. I'm guessing this is f/4.0 or lower. I'm a rookie with this lens and have plenty to learn. But, I like that it allows me to think "outside the box". In other words, it's fun.
Please have a great day.....
In two plus years of active macro photography, I've only had two times when a dragonfly stayed still long enough for me to take multiple photos.
This fellow made my day yesterday when he appeared and allowed me to take several shots.....

Mammoth Hot Springs are a must-see feature of Yellowstone National Park in part because they’re so different from other thermal areas in the area. This is largely because limestone is a relatively soft type of rock, allowing the travertine formations to grow much faster than other sinter formations. It has been described as looking like a cave turned inside out.

Fading daylight and a backdrop of thunderclouds allowed for the creation of this dystopian, moody cityscape.
There are people who speak ill of the fog of Milan. I don't know that of the other countries, but this in Milan is a great fog, nice, affectionate, friendly. Allow everything like a caress. And then it seems to me that the fog invites to intimacy, optimism, confidence.

This one is dedicated to my neighbour who allows me to use his dock as a vantage point for photographing the sunrise at Keefer Lake. His dock has almost a 270 degree view north-east to south-west whereas our dock is in a small bay and faces south - south west. He will recognize the subject whereas it may be a puzzle for others. :) Thank you neighbour!

Given Covid, no fireworks are allowed here in Holland. I looked for a "natural" replacement and found this picture I made about a month ago. The wet trees are nicely contrasting to the colorful leaves and if you close your eyes you may see some fireworks ;-)
Hope you have a wonderful year end and thank you so much for all your kind comments and favs this year. I have also enjoyed your pictures a lot and found so much inspiration looking at all of them, so thank you for sharing!

In the field of excited sighs
Inside natures open thighs
Grows a beauty, oh so sweet
That my fingers they do meet
That my fingers they caress
Natures defences, i undress
Allowing my sun to now cover
My sweet, wild growing lover
That fills the field with excited sighs
That opens wide, it's waiting thighs
Waiting for my love, to descend
cover it with sunshine, that will never end
