Not in the sense of going back hundreds of years, but merely hours.
Compared to Vancouver, even during Summer, it gets dark early. The sun sets by 5pm, and I'm not exactly off work at that time.
I had this location on my mental checklist of places to shoot after acquiring a tripod. At this point it was about to start raining (not so obvious) so I had to take cover.
I realize how hard it is to actually line up things on the tripod. Especially on a mini-tripod, it's difficult to line up the horizons and compose without almost lying on the ground. More practise will be required, but thankfully minor alignment adjustments are easy with post-processing.

Sagittarius is the fiery sign of the archer, symbol of single-minded attention. It teaches us to direct all our forces to one purpose, the goal of our life. On the spiritual path, the bow and arrow stand for the meditative discipline of lifting up the energies to the higher centres and to align one’s own will to the divine Will.
For the visualisation of the divine Will I chose a representation of the Lord of the Divine Will: I took the face of a statue of Shiva on the banks of the River Ganges in Rishikesh, India. I cleared it from other symbolisms and placed a bow and an arrow over the bust. With the help of photos of the sun and of a lotus I created the Sahasrara, the thousand-petalled lotus over the head, the target of the alignment, the connection to the higher worlds.
For the string and the lower part of the bust I created shapes of bluish flames, expressing the electric tension of the fiery alignment. I emphasized it by intensifying the colours.
Drivers door wasn't great when I got the truck on account of some front left 'trauma' during it's 60 years.

This bridge was built in 1929 to cross the Tennessee River for a new alignment of the Dixie Highway. Originally, there were toll booths on either side but they were removed in 1947. In the mid 1960's with the building of Nickajack Dam just downstream, which formed Nickajack Lake, the water level rose. The Bridge was rehabilitated and also hydraulically lifted 21 feet so that barge traffic could still pass below. While not the Dixie Highway anymore, it did carry the Cummings Highway, which is US41, US64 and US72.
After Interstate 24 was built near the same place, traffic on this bridge shrank. A friend of mine who lived in the area told me how she always hated driving across this bridge because it is narrow and you fell like you could fall off the side. The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.
Recently, the bridge was determined by the state to be structurally deficient. A couple of months ago, on Jan. 9, 2012, the bridge was officially closed. In a couple of years, there will be a new, wider bridge at this location. For the full story, read this article:

These menhirs are part of the Alignements de Kermario - the 'place of the dead' - as seen from the Route de Kerlescan north-east of the town of Carnac in Brittany. They are thought to date from about 5700 BC.

The inner circle was the phylogenetic tree of the GH13 amylolytic enzymes from 85 fungal genomes and the root was put at the mid-point of the longest span across the tree. The tree was inferred by FastTree from the alignments of GH13 amylolytic enzymes constructed by HMMER packages against the profile hidden Markov model of PF00128 and edited on iTOL. The bootstrap values at the inner nodes are displayed by the color that the related edges are marked in red with the values less than 800 in 1000 replicates and otherwise maintain in dark. The outer is the taxon represented as species abbreviation (shown in Table? 1) followed by the serial number, which is covered by different colors to show its taxonomic group as the legend indicated. Each taxon links the branch with a dotted line. Distribution of putative starch-binding domains is indicated by the scattered solid circles outside the corresponding taxon. B. Primary and secondary structure features of four clades. The consensus logos of four clades were generated by Jalview from matched residues in their alignments against the profile hidden Markov model of PF00128. In the logo, the total stack height represented the information content of amino acids at that position. Phylogenetic affiliation of sequences retrieved using cyanobacterial specific nifH genes as targets combined with DGGE analyses of sediment associated DNA samples from wetland meadows along three major rivers (Vindel, Pite, and Lais) in northern Sweden.The phylogram was constructed using the maximum likelihood distance method with TrNIG model. Sequences obtained here are given in bold. Each DGGE band sequence is designated by their accession number, a code and the name of the river/s were it was collected. The numbers given at the nodes represent bootstrap values.

When the long road bridge which spanned Galashiels railway station was demolished and replaced by a re-aligned road, an opening was left in the new road embankment for use in the event that trains might one day return to the Waverley Route. This view looks towards Edinburgh. Obviously a new alignment for the railway was envisaged here. The building which blocked the route on the other side of this bridge can be seen in old photos as lying to the north of the railway and has since been demolished to make way for the new rail alignment..
