I can't help it. But where ever I go, I come across Alien Spaceship Architecture...

This is the first of a set of shots from Valencia, the mini project is called 'Aliens'. Valencia had been high on my list of places to visit, and towards the end of 2015 I spent a few days there. I was not disappointed at all. Calatrava at his playful best.
Why Aliens though? I'd seen many pictures of these buildings and people likened them to fishes, and its often clear to see why. However I arrived late at night, and I wandered around without even taking my camera out with me - I just wanted to look and take in the surroundings. In the dark, there was something different to the shots I'd seen - they'd taken on a different appearance - they looked more like mechanised aliens just waiting silently - until the time was right. It was just a feeling but it stuck enough to become the title.
Recently most of my images have been high key - however there are some situations where this just doesn't work, all these shots are dark, taken either during the day with massively blue clear skies or at night

What must go through the mind of a wild turkey hen to find this attractive?? Different strokes for different folks , I guess.
Saw Aliens last week and wanted to build something. This is based of the corridor with those badass guns slaughtering the Aliens, but obviously I based it off my memory so it's not that accurate. :-P

Not something I would normally photograph, but when I saw this large colourful spider eating a fly, I had to balance my arachnophobia against my desire for a photograph. I know it would have worked better with several focus stacked images but I really don't like spiders so one shot was all I got!

I discovered a fantastic setup of an Alien world. A must see: Planet by Cica Ghost. Unfortunately it will be removed next Friday 19th of February. So visit fast.
This is the version with the original windlight, the way the artist Cica Ghost wants her work to be presented. So I happily do that, also to preserve her work at least in Flickr.
We knew that the aurora was going to put on a show a couple nights ago. Based on info provided by the radar, the weather forecast called for clear skies in this area. So when we got there and saw that it was overcast we were not impressed. To be accurate: we were pissed off. Ironically, the structure that you see in the photo is the radar that said that the skies were clear.
So this photo is the result of that failed aurora trip. For a fail, I'd say that what we saw was pretty cool, no?

This is a snapshot of a Xmas toy which had two rotating arms with green and blue LEDS built into them.
This is the area I refer to as the Alien Throne area. Since I found a new way in it is a less than 2 miles there and back.
The hardest part of hiking there is the elevation change. It is about 4,000 feet higher there than where I live. Doesn't sound like much, but it really affects me.
I don't know if that is normal, or just my old age affecting it.
Never the less, I hope to back next month.
