Namgis burial ground in Alert Bay

Another of the cats from the taverna at Avlaki. I think this one looks a bit more devious. I love the staring eyes though.

Wooden Pillar: Mr. Lion, look over there, on your left.

Mr. Lion stopped walking and looked at his left and saw an image of Ms. Cannot Decide appearing in the sky, the day when Ms. Cannot Decide had a funny time with Sparrow B and his neighbor.

Mr. Lion: OK this time I won't be upset because the 3 of them had fun without inviting me. I have to remind myself that I am a magnanimous lion. Hitting Ms. Cannot Decide is another matter, I didn't hit her hard, I was only trying to scare her away, letting her know who is the alpha here.

Pillar: what do you think of that message?

Mr. Lion: It's funny. But I'm wondering whether Mr. Might-be Vampire is upset with the conversation I had with Carrot and the flowers yesterday?

Sparrow B's voice: Hi Mr. Lion I missed the discussion the many of you were having yesterday. I cast my vote in favor of Mr. Might-be Vampire instead of Carrot. I don't believe he will do what Carrot was saying even though I might not have known him for long. Carrot is just being sour grapes. Sometimes he wanted to get his own way being naughty but was suppressed by Mr. Might-be Vampire, so he was not happy about those times, and also there were times when he wanted to sleep but Mr. Might-be Vampire wanted him to exercise. So all this wrong timings made him feel unhappy with Mr. Might-be Vampire sometimes, even though he is a faithful dog.

Mr. Lion: Hmm.. make sense. I doubt Carrot will be as magnanimous as I am to understand why Mr. Might-be Vampire was doing what he was doing, because he had been through some difficult times although he would stick by Mr. Might-be Vampire to go through good and bad times, that does not mean that he is totally happy with his handler. And he hasn't come here for his long overdue rehabilitation so he isn't balanced emotionally. Unlike me, if I'm not happy, I will just go and look for the birds - they really make me forget about my worries - well not that I have many, walk around in the garden, trying to scare off Ms. Cannot Decide and Ms. Quite Timid.

Sparrow B: Ya, Carrot doesn't have the flatmates like you have and since he often follow Mr. Might-be Vampire to his workplace in the city, he is less close to nature, doesn't have a chance to look at the cute birds that will make him feel happier when he is moody. Even trying to catch one but fail to, might help to release some stress. I can understand his situation but at the same time I believe in Mr. Might-be Vampire, and of course my Mr. Black-bee who visited the feeder many times yesterday, trying to assure us that it will be a dream come true some day that Mr. Might-be Vampire and him will appear in front of us.

Mr. Lion: Sparrow B, you sounded very sensible and serious today.

Sparrow B: Of course! I know when to joke and when to be serious and sensible. Today I am sensible. OK, I've got to start my busy day ahead.

Mr. Lion: OK, me too. have a good day.

I saw this doe while driving in southern Warren County, Ohio on a November morning. I rolled down the car window to take her picture, and her ears instantly went into “radar mode” when she heard the sound of loud banjo music from the country music station blaring from my car radio.

Alert & Karne

Benched by A & P in Calgary, AB.

I am biased i will admit, but i couldnt resist this shot she just looks so alert (which she usually is)

the cat was on a fence....alert ready for the jump down

Young doe with ears alert to the other does moving away behind her while her alert eyes are glued on me.

No klaxons blaring, though.

With a Marsh Harrier flying close by these Wigeon went into alert mode but didn't take off from the ice. Slightly different behaviour than seen a few weeks back. Not sure if the ducks have worked out the Marsh Harriers rarely hunt close to the hides. In fact there is also a Marsh Harrier on the ground to the right of these ducks that wasn't seen until mobbed by another Marsh Harrier

You'd not have any problem - drive on...

The "Alert Village" people ahead will jump out of the way...

I've been scanning some of my old photos all day, here's one of the best.

She looks like she has been naughty and is trying to look innocent.
