My first Adonis Blue, they are such gorgeous butterfly's...my thanks goes out to my mate, Ed Kennerley, cheers Ed.
After a bit of research I believe this beautiful little butterfly is a male Adonis Blue. Information from here: www.ukbutterflies.co.uk/species.php?vernacular_name=adoni...
It is said that Oscar is gazing towards his old residence on Merrion Square North, but I think it looks more like he's ogling Adonis' bum! :D
In Europe the Common Blue occurs in almost all habitats - Is found on mountains at altitudes up to 2700m, nd in numerous other habitats including arid scrubland, glades in pinewoods, and on freshwater marshland.
Its small and very blue - therefore my estimate is that it is a Blue Adonis. Quite excited when we saw this fluttering around.
Of course there's always the danger its not a blue adonis!

Adonis is the most handsome and sought-after young man in Greek mythology, but his birth was defiled in that he was born as the son of a woman called Myrrha, who had had an incestuous relationship with her father. As a punishment, Myrrha was changed into a tree – the myrrh tree. And when the appointed time had passed, the bark of the tree burst and the infant Adonis came into the world.
