Addlestone, April 1988.

The Cobham Bus Museum Spring Gathering in April 1991 took place in Addlestone. Entries included Centrewest Dennis Dart / Wright Handybus B26F DW43 JDZ2343 complete with Gold Arrow branding.

Coxes Lock was built between 1651 and 1653, as part of an important link to transport heavy goods between London and Guildford. The Lock contains a stone inscribed "Built 1770" when improvements were made to the structure and banks. Coxes Lock is the deepest unmanned lock on the Navigation with a rise of 8 feet 6 inches (2.59 m) - and is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from the Thames.

In 1776 an iron entrepreneur, a Mr Cox, recognised the potential that the site offered and started to build his iron mill which became known as Coxes Lock Mill (pre-dating the adoption of apostrophes in many place names in the English Language).

Cardinal Buses of Addlestone run a fleet of former London Buses on a number of contract services including rail replacement work. Seen at their depot in September 2018 is Dennis Dart SLF / Caetano Nimbus B32D DC102 KX03HZP. This bus was new to Ealing Community Transport of Acton in 2003.

Parked behind the Dart is MCW Metrobus M5 THX105S.

Cardinal Buses of Addlestone run a fleet of former London Buses on a number of contract services including rail replacement work. Seen passing through Addlestone on rail replacement duties in September 2018 is Dennis Trident / Alexander ALX400 H43/20D TA536 LY02OAB. This bus was new to East London as TAS536 in 2002.

Falcon Buses KX58 GSZ is seen in Kingston's Eden Street with a 515, which following the September 2017 Surrey CC changes and re-tendering, now runs after Hersham to Weybridge, Brooklands and Addlestone rather than Field Common Estate.

Field Common Estate is now served by Hallmark's version of the 461.

Weybridge is a town by the River Wey in the Elmbridge district of Surrey. It is bounded to the north by the River Thames at the mouth of the Wey, from which it gets its name. It is an outlying suburban town within the Greater London Urban Area, situated 7 miles (11 km) northeast of Woking and 16 miles (25 km) southwest of central London. Real estate prices are well above the national average: as of 2008, six of the ten most expensive streets in South East England (defined as the official government region, which excludes Greater London) were in Weybridge.

Weybridge, based on its parish bounds, forms three wards of the United Kingdom or can be divided into the Thames Street and town centre area, the Queens Road area on top of Monument Hill, most of Brooklands and St George's Hill. Within the post town, rather than Weybridge's other boundaries is Oatlands or Oatlands Village.

This old mill and workhouse is now converted into what I imagine are expensive flats overlooking the river Wey near Addlestone.

The clouds where turning dark as the sun was setting and the reflection was too good not to take.

Lying down with my camera inches above the river trying to dodge the swan and duck poo on the grass.

The 25th Alton Bus Rally & Running Day took place in Anstey Park on July 21st 2019. Over 150 visiting buses and coaches, both new and preserved, descended on the Hampshire market town for what turned out to be another great event.

Seen in Anstey Park is Cardinal Buses of Addlestone Alexander Dennis Dart SLF / Plaxton Pointer 2 DP474 LF06YRK.

My nearest NBC depot was Addlestone, of LCBS. Despite being an NBC man I did not work for them. However, as with LT, I knew people. Here we see an RP in the foreground, Im sure by now on bus routes rather than Green Line services. A further RP is in the background, clealry having at been at the very least 'a tow job'. An LCBS SM completes the view.

Spring is all around captured at a rail crossing of the Godalming & Wey Navigations seeing the regular 6Y55 11.07 Angerstein Wharf-Woking Down Yd aggregates approaching Addlestone Jn at speed.

Barely a third of the box wagons are loaded with neatly batched marine-dredged aggregates prepared at the large Thames side operation.

Godalming is the upper limit of the Navigation.

The loco is DB Schenker's 66082.

One of a class of three. Considered by London Transport as a replacement for the RF, so in fact an experiment.

They were AEC Reliances with a 7.7 litre AH470 engine hung on the chassis. Transmission was through a Monocontrol gearbox like that on the RMs. The body was 8 foot wide with a dual doorway: an entrance at the front and an exit amidships.

RW2 / 496ALH With LT 1960 – 1963 . Always on country routes. Bought by Chesterfield Corporation after London Transport duties. 1978 sold into preservation. Not sure of present situation.

Cobham Bus Museum Rally April 1991 - A line up of London Transport RFs - RF366 RF444 RF491 RF180

Cobham Bus Museum - in 1972, the London Bus Preservation Group (LBPG) acquired a former World War II aircraft factory, now demolished, near Cobham, Surrey, where the private Cobham Bus Museum was established, taking its name from the location. Although the museum had in the interim become a Registered Charity and a Registered Museum, by the early 2000s its future was uncertain as the building was deteriorating and planning permission could not be obtained to operate a public museum from the location, thereby jeopardising both the charitable and museum statuses. Eventually, the operating Trust was able to negotiate the acquisition of a large plot of land from the nearby Brooklands Museum Trust on the location of the former Brooklands racing circuit and aircraft production site. A deal was struck for the redevelopment of the old museum site and the construction of a new building at the new location, thus providing the museum with a secure home from where it could open daily to the public. The new, purpose-built premises opened on 1 August 2011 and the London Bus Museum name was adopted.
